Dancing with the Stars Recap: The Top 11 Dance do the Lindy Hop and Argentine Tango

(Although calling them "new" dances and asking us to see the differences between those dances and, say, the Jitterbug and the Ballroom Tango is asking for a level of sophistication we may not have yet acquired!) For some, unexplained, reason this week will see two of our Stars be eliminated, so the pressure, as they say, was on! Most of them rose to the challenge, some of them are probably incapable of kicking it up a notch...so I'll be kind. Here goes: 1. David Allen Grier and Kym danced the Lindy Hop ...more

I'd liketo see that :)

Dancing with the Stars Recap: The Top 12 Soldier On

Despite injuries and insults...nothing some sequins and spray-tan can't cover up! Who knew ballroom dancing was such a brutal sport? Well, if you watched last season and saw it take down Olympic Gold Medalist Misty May Treanor, then you probably knew. But who else knew? If you're wondering what happened last week, we have an aging, failing Tivo in our home, and it only recorded half of the episode before stopping inexplicably. I missed so much I figured it wasn't fair to half-recap. But I'm back this week with a full recap minus one. ...more

So you may get your wish for more of Woz :)

And so it begins: The Dancing with the Star Recap: The Top 13

This week is a big week. Not only does Dancing with the Stars kick off, but American Idol's Top 12 begins tonight. So I'm going from 0-60 in my selective reality TV recapping. I hope I can adjust to the schedule and pace!! I'm following this season of DWtS with special attention because I know (in the most casual, third-hand way) one of the contestants. That's right Mr. Steve Wozniak, co-founder of Apple and mad genius, is standing up for geeks everywhere. ...more

Dancing with the Stars; Cloris Leachman Is An Awesome Senior

We’re never too old to start clearing clutter! My friend Bev (who was in her late 50’s) told me, “women my age just aren’t interested in organizing, if they haven’t done it by now then they never will, we are just set in our ways”.  I gasped when she said this! That just isn’t true; no matter how old we are we will always be clearing clutter in our homes and in our lives.  Clearing clutter frees us up for more interesting things to do every day. And if we aren’t consistently clearing  clutter then it can become a problem for us. ...more

Dancing with the Stars is the Biggest Guilty Pleasure Ever

ABC’s hit show Dancing with the Stars, may be the best guilty pleasure to ever grace a television set. Over-the-top glittery costumes boasting more sequins than an ’80s prom, combined with some seriously smokin’ hot bodies transports you into a wonderland of acceptable raunchiness and what, pray tell, is more fun than that? Think of it as a smorgasbord of decent smut with a twist of ballroom dancing. ...more

Dancing with the Stars Recap: The Top 4...I'm Sorry, But I'm Disappointed

I'm disappointed that at this late stage they still give points for effort and exceeding expectations, rather than on skill, style and execution But I should suck it up and face my disappointment, because this rooting for the underdog and voting for those who surprise us rather than stun us has always been a part of the equation of reality talent shows. I just don't have to like it. ...more

Dancing with the Stars Recap: The Top 5 go for two again

And somehow the guy with the injury comes out on top! Can you say Dra. Ma. I have been pretty accurate with the elimination prognostication so far, but I don't know if I'll get it right this week. This due to a crop of mostly strong performances, and a group of judges who seemed to be seeing very different performances than I did. Let's dig in: 1. Kristi and Mark ...more

Dancing with the Stars Recap: The Top 6 Tackle Two Dances

And mostly pull it off...even if one of them pulls a muscle! This week was the first week that the remaining couples had to learn two routines (if you don't count the horrifying spectacle that was their group country dance...which I don't.) For the most part everyone rose to the challenge. I certainly hope that sympathy and fascination with some backstage romance doesn't keep the wrong couples in too long, but so far America has been pretty smart on this one. Let's dig in: 1. Marisa and Tony ...more
