The One Where I Wee Myself at a Wedding

DorkyDad and I are just back from a wonderful weekend in Galway, celebrating the wedding of two very good friends. DorkyGranny was kind enough to babysit, so it was just the two of us (and 100 other guests, obviously!). Other than the wedding itself, which I don't think I can write about yet without being too gushy, here are a few of the noteworthy moments. No DorkySon!...more

Reclaim Your Energy in 5 Quick Steps

Do you ever wish you had more energy?  Ha. I know, silly question.  Who doesn't wish they had more energy? Everyone I talk to, no matter if they are parents or single, working or living a life of leisure, ill or not, they have the same goal: they want more energy....more

A Dance with Chance

When she began to trust others, she started to trust herself again. What she would learn is that trust doesn't only enable us to forge meaningful relationships with others, but also enables us to work toward our goals and dreams. It's all connected. It's all a dance. ...more

So curious as to who this "Chance" is. He sounds like a "Sheen," he might be a "Farrell" (but he ...more

Music helps me heal...

When my ex-husband told me that he wanted to end our marriage, I spent that night crying to sleep and woke up thinking this was all just a dream. I was so lost. My heart and mind was filled with so many negative thoughts... and how my future felt so bleak and dark.  On the way to work that morning, out of habit, I turned on the music in my car.  It's the same type of music I have on my cd changer that I have been listening to which were varying degrees of trance, house and chillout music.  But on that day, I had an amazing epiphany....more

Ready For My Tutu

The first thing I decided to try on my list was Ballet. I’ve always wanted to try it. I did not have the opportunity to do it as a little girl. I knew there were adult classes available but until now I’d not had the courage to try it. As you see from my list of potential Joy invoking activities one of my desires is to fit into a single digit dress size (size 9 would do). So obviously I do not resemble your typical ballerina. I’d imagined myself walking into an adult class and having the instructor take one look at me, refund my registration fee and confiscating my ballet slippers. Since the definition of Joy does not include word Fear I decided afraid or not, I’d try it....more

Thanks Bevy,

Maybe you can find an adult class and get back into it. ...more

Vanity vs. Memory

Today is the age of digital. Almost all of us have something digital in our lives: cellphones, cameras, TVs, clocks (at the very least), and so on.The one thing I personally love is the digital camera. Especially the one embedded in my smartphone. Whilst the purist in me scowls at its quality when it comes to capturing images, the romantic in me praises the person who had the idea of embedding digital camera into a cellphone to high heavens. ...more

New Year's Resolutions

It is now that time of year where everyone is making their New Year's Resolutions.  I really don't do that anymore but it is a very hard habit to break.  The big one is ALWAYS to lose weight, go on a diet and that is just a given for me as it is every single day.  I've battled the weight monster most of my adult life and always will.  Of course I will give into the NYR thing by admitting that I will make it my #1 resolution.  I've already talked to my trainer and expressed the desire to lose at least 50 pounds by June, June 4 to be exact when I hit the double-nickel...more

The reluctant wedding dancer

Cross posted from dance at Jewish Orthodox weddings. I  put on my flats, I  kick up my heels,  I shake my hips. I dance from the first dance to the last.  I dance with joy – in the women’s section of the dance floor. I dance, celebrating patriarchal marriage, the silent veiled bride in a long-sleeved white gown....more
