I don’t like doing dishes. I love my dishwasher. I’ve lived in a couple of apartments without dishwashers and it was somethin’ awful — and I was just doing dishes for myself. A while back we laid down the law. Actually I laid down the law. D was in California on business.D finds it tough to spend time away from his family. In San Francisco. You know? The picturesque, artsy, on the ocean, great food, and even better pubs city that people sing about leaving their hearts in. Poor guy…no arguments to listen to, no chores to harass kids about, no morning panic prep. Point is I like having him around to calm the savage beasts. I could be referring to the kids or myself. I am cooking breakfast for the last time. On a massive scale anyway for awhile, my son goes home to Washington state today. So I won't be doing sausage, bacon, eggs, biscuits and sometimes gravy for a very long time. I usually eat lighter, and have soup or a sandwich for breakfast. The dog is now spoiled in another way.
The boys were at their Nana's, Ian was at work, room mate was asleep, and the dogs were chilling at my feet. I haven't had the house to myself in a long time. I was enjoying all my mind numbing trivial house work. One more chore for the day.....dishes. Normally I loathe doing dishes. Actually I could careless for any house work, but that is neither here nor there, it has to get done. But today I was enjoying my mindless dish washing time and the stillness of my house. When I reached for the last dish in the sink.. a blue and white damask print cup....more

“When do I find the time?” “By the time the kids go to bed, I'm exhausted!” “I need to tidy up first before I get organized.” “Where do I start?” I hear ya! One of the last things I want to do after the kids' bedtime is tidy up the toys the kids left on the floor, let alone spend hours decluttering. All I want to do is sit down and watch TV or on some days, just go to bed!
