All right Losties, it's here! The moment we've all been waiting for -- the return of "Lost" for its 6th and final season beginning February 2nd on ABC at 8/7c.In honor of the big event, I thought it was the perfect time to review where we've been before we move forward. Or backward, depending on what the island is doing....more
It's that time of year again. Time to reflect on favorite TV moments and madness of 2009. I personally had a lot of favorite shows this year: "Lost," "24," "House," "Dexter," "True Blood," "Battlestar Galactica," "Mad Men" to name just a few....more
I'm one of the five or six people out there who hasn't read the bestselling novel, "The Lovely Bones" by Alice Sebold. That's one reason I was excited about the film version. After all, I didn't have the book to cloud my judgment of the movie. The other reason I was excited was because the movie was directed by Peter Jackson who's the Oscar winning director of "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy....more
This is going to be sticky, so please, bear with me. I just saw the film "Precious" and I can barely breathe.
The only way I'm going to be able to write about this movie is in two parts: my hopefully professional and objective review of the movie, and then my gut level, emotional reaction to the movie. So as I said, please bear with me.
Has anyone ever noticed that when you go back to High School even if it's just for a game or something you get thrown back into the whole drama scene?I got tired of the drama way before I even left High School so you know with me out of it I really don't want to deal with it. I went to the Massaponax Homecoming game and it was nothing but drama, even before the game even really started. All I could think was I missed this, really what's wrong with me? LOL...more
I know I'm risking Joss Whedon fans busting down my door and demanding my "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" lifetime membership card back, but I gotta tell you, "Dollhouse" is beginning to bug me. Remember how when the show premiered last year, I wrote in my review, "Joss is an amazing talent so I'll give "Dollhouse" more time."? Well Joss, honey? Time is just about up....more
**Spoiler Alert: may contain spoilers for Episode 6.1 of House. **
The 6th season of House kicked off Monday night with a 2-hour premiere that seemed to turn the show's direction on end. Titled "Broken", it focused on broken hearts and minds rather than the broken body mysteries that have been central to most past seasons of the show. It was a beautifully written episode, and it should have left me with the tears and warm fuzzies that come with tug-your-heartstrings television. Yet oddly, I felt empty.
Last night's two-hour premiere of "House" was almost like an art house movie. It opened with a beautifully done montage of Dr. Gregory House (Hugh Laurie) painfully detoxing in a mental facility to the haunting strains of Radiohead's "No Surprises. "
Julianna Margulies, Patricia Heaton, John Lithgow, Keith Carradine, Christian Slater, Jenna Elfman, Kelsey Grammer, Chris O'Donnell and L L Cool J. All these stars and more are coming to your Fall 2009 TV screens. If the concept of a year round TV season is like an all you can eat buffet, plentiful but with few memorable morsels, then fall is still when the network chefs trot out their best cuisine for viewers to sample.
Awhile back a reader asked me to elaborate on my relationship with my mother, given that I used strong language and stabbed things whenever I mentioned her in my blog posts. This led me to write the first installment of my "Mommy Dearest" posts and eventually, to a place of peace.
