Procrastinators Unite!!

But let's unite next week, because I'm busy procrastinating this week, Ok? I'm dead serious. This week I've been procrastinating so much I've been driving myself so crazy that I've decided to stop it at once like...on Monday. ...more

My Parents are here!

NaBloPoMo Day 22 You know, I did not have a minute in my day today that I could sit down and write until just now.  And I am stealing time away that I would be visiting and catching up with my mom.  Actually, I take that back.  She just went to bed.  ...more

Finding Balance (or, The Never Ending Search)

Making family time is important to me. How do you balance your children, relationship, and work life?    Good question. I constantly feel like I'm trying to find and maintain balance in my life. Every now and then I feel balanced and then something new gets thrown into the mix. And I start over. ...more

How We Do Family Time On The Clements Farm

We yell.  We laugh.  We cry.  We put our pants on in one giant jump.I hate to admit that we watch the idiot box a LOT more than we should.  Jacob and I are on computers WAY too much.  The little ones watch a SINFUL amount of cartoons.Sometimes, we just have to break out of the shell that is the house.  We get a little stir crazy.  And on these beautiful fall days, how can we possibly pass up a little sunshine to brighten our freckles?...more

Bonding over Board Games: Developing a Winning Game Plan for Busy Families.

It is the dreaded 4-7pm, at least for our household, when we enter what we affectionately call the “Death Spiral.” It is the free-for-all fueled by the end-of-day crankies, hunger pains that can only be satisfied with chips and crackers instead of the nutritious dinner that is being prepared at the stove, and the inevitable resistance to the ever-impending bedtime. Oh the frustration! And not just towards keeping everybody happy at the end of the day but more as a desire to make dinner time and evening family time meaningful....more

Family Unplugged: The Results Show

It is now 10 p.m. on Sunday evening. I have officially been "disconnected" for 24 hours, and I am ready to once again join the virtual world. In case you missed my previous post, I was inspired by the Australian mom who made her family disconnect from all electronic devices for six months. So I made my family unplug for one day. We were not allowed to watch TV, play video games or use the computer all day....more

Live, Learn and Compromise

You may have noticed that there is a metre or so of snow on the ground, right now.  Looking out our front window, you would never guess that we HAVE a front walk - nevermind that it was shoveled less than 24 hours ago.  I'm drinking my coffee in my jammies, looking at all that snow, and trying to use telepathy to get that boy three houses down to come and ask to shovel our walks. He wants a new snowboard.  I want him to have a new snowboard.  Especially if it means I don't have to get dressed, today....more

Baby it's cold outside - so let's stay home and watch a movie.

Every Christmas my hubby gets psyched about getting his movie-fill for the year.  For the past two Christmases, I have given him a Netflix subscription for the winter months and he doles out movie gift cards to everyone in the family. The rest of the year viewing home movies and paying to go to the movie theater is low on the list. By April, the weather will be nicer and the fury will have dimmed. This year my son, who claims he hates watching movies, has been a movie hound the past two weeks himself....more
