Taking Applications?

I work in retail. I did ballet for 10 years. Some days I wish I could fire my feet and hire new ones. I mean seriously. Though my feet technically do everything in the job description: stand, walk, balance etc. They no longer do the job all that well and they definitely do not work well without copious amounts of complaining. Now, to be fair, when I am not working in retail they do their job not too badly with minimal amounts of complaining (I say minimal because it is rare that they are complaint free). But as soon as I start working retail again......more

Matching Socks

Between my curious kids and the monster feasting on socks in my dryer, I do not ever seem to have a clean, matching pair of socks. Most days, a matching pair of socks is the least of my concern while my children are teaching each other how to twist off the milk cap and watch the epic splash on the floor. I suppose I could look at this as an opportunity to live more freely, not caring what people may think of me or my children and our wacky mis-matched socks....more

What to Do, What to Do? How Many Pairs of Shoes for the Cruise?

2011 Feet Tall.

Today's will be a little...odd. Ever since forever, if I have a camera in my hands, and I'm a tad bit disinterested in whatever is going on, or I am passing the time, I will invariably, inevitably, sooner or later, take a picture of my feet. It's a habit that I'm not sure when, where, or how originated. It's just another part of my weirdness. So this morning while going through my albums of 2011, I started noticing a pattern. Every two or three occasions/events/place there would be a picture of my feet, and each photo had a story. So here's 2011. In feet. ...more

"Confessions of a big footed girl" by Molly Jong-Fast

“I have size 11 feet. Yeah, it sucks, because I see all these super cute shoes in the stores - Guccis, YSLs, Manolos. And when they bring them out in my size, they look like clown shoes." –Paris Hilton   Confessions of a big footed girlby Molly Jong-Fast...more

Treat Those Feet (for my sake)

Alright, ladies and gentlemen. Warmer weather is upon us (well, unless you live in the Southern Hemisphere...or Seattle) and it's about the time that we begin to expose the toes. Yes, my friends, we're coming around to sandal and flip-flop weather. I know I get a just a little excited when I pull out all of my cute sandals, flip-flops and open-toed shoes out of their winter storage. I just can't WAIT to wear them again....more

Mama's 'Last week in review' - Letter of the week - F

I'm going to start something new on Mondays. Since I am trying to do a little more 'formal' learning time with Cutie Pie I thought I'd try to post about it just once a week. I mean, this blog is supposed to be about our learning through everyday life and I think posting about what we're learning through a more formal time is everyday life, but yet it isn't. Right? Anyway, welcome to my first post called Mama's last week in review! ...more

Nourish Your Sole(s)

Mexican revolutionary Emiliano Zapata once said “It is better to die on your feet than live on your knees.” And I’d like to add, if I may, that It is better to die in your heels than walk comfortably in your flats.  Like 99% of the time. Especially for little chiquitas like me. Which is why I feel an overwhelming appreciation for  footcare that is both luxuriant and reparative. ...more
