Of Brain Scans, Therapy and the Right to Dream

I have to tell everyone that I generally stay away from too many controversial issues surrounding autism and its causes. I for one do not think vaccines caused my children’s autism....more

Finding Abundance by Facing Your Inner Critic

by Dana TheusI discovered recently that to release my inner critic – silencing his nattering in my ears – I had to meet him first. I’m working on some big stuff; working to make big things happen for myself, my family, my clients and for Owning Pink. This is BIG STUFF and I realized that to make BIG STUFF happen I was going to need some BIG ALLIES and so I reached out to God, the Universe and Everything and made The Big Ask. I mean, why not? Isn’t that what all the gurus say to do?...more

Peoplehood By Constitution

My reason for writing these posts is to bring about civil discourse about the purpose and meaning of the U.S.Constitution. But before we start delving into the meaning of what each and every right means I would like to address the issue of what is the Constitution. No not in a specific, article by article, way. Anyone can buy a copy of the Constitution in a bookstore or order it on line to find out the exact rules under which this government functions. What I would like to discuss is the power of the document....more

Why I Want to Be Four Again

Nurturing My Now...Step by Step

This is the first in a series "Being True To You" for Tuesday Okay. Here it is. I'm on the edge of my seat blogging from a place of conflict: On one hand I'm experiencing utter frustration with myself which accusingly ruminates: "You're such an idiot. You know better than this. You're so completely weak. There ya go being indecisive, yet again. When are you gonna matter to you? When are you going to become number one to you and commit to your life for cryin out loud?"...more

Baby Ink: The Right to Tattoo Your Child

A 7-year-old wants a gang tattoo just like his daddy. Awe, that’s so sweet. So daddy holds him down while he gets it. Hmmm, are we liking this parental freedom or not? I’m sure you can guess what the story is about, but now it is going to a judge. Is tattooing your minor a form of permanent disfigurement that can land a parent in jail with a life sentence? Maybe it’s something less than a mayhem charge? That remains to be seen....more

Be Intentional

Each semester, you as a student get to schedule the following semester's classes. Take it from me, BE STRATEGIC when you are planning your schedule. Since I am a business major, I oftentimes do not have Friday classes (which is amazing) and this weekend, I got to come home yesterday, slept late in my own bed this morning and am getting an extra day with my family. I love this part of my schedule. The weekends I don't get to come home, I can travel elsewhere for a longer weekend OR I can have an extra long, lazy weekend at my college casa....more

Can Sri Lankan media regain its freedom?

Sri Lanka's uneasy peace after ending a 25-year-old civil insurgency and brutally crushing the separatist group LTTE (Liberation Tigers of Tamil Elam) earlier this year, is being put to a new test by its fettered media. As we had discussed earlier, the Sri Lankan government had completely shut out the media and aid agencies from covering the war-ravaged north and east. ...more
