In Celebration of Mothers: Guest Posting Opportunities!

In honor of Mother's Day, which is just around the corner, I would like to announce a new series I will be hosting over at my blog, "Since You Asked".  Beginning Wed., May 16th, I will be hosting guest writers who will tell their stories about motherhood.  These stories will showcase the humorous, insightful, empowering, and most of all, celebratory moments in a mother's life.  Won't you come share your story?...more

Sometimes It's Just Hard

I recently made two requests to my husband that I deemed to be perfectly somewhat reasonable.  Allow me to preface. You see, lately I've been feeling a little overwhelmed.  I hate to even say the word because I can almost hear the collective groan as others not in my position wonder to themselves, "Really? Overwhelmed? Stay at home mom? Really?" Or something like that.  And here's the thing.  Yes. Yes I do....more

In which my eight year old splits an atom

As we head into our second semester of homeschooling, I thought it might be fun to give a little update on how things are going so far. Fun for me, anyway. This has the potential to be wildly boring for you.I'm kidding! Please keep reading...So after four months of homeschooling, we've got a few things solidly under our belts. Those things are, in no particular order:- The kids can all read Latin fluently.- I churn butter every night before bed.- Tia knits daily. Beer Money

I love my husband for many reasons, one particular reason being his interesting philosophy on life.Take for example his theory about “walkabout” money.  Colby believes that besides having lipstick and a driver’s license in a purse, there also needs to be hard cold cash.  Not that he carries around a purse and lipstick; he just thinks the women in his life should....ContinueLanita Moss A Mother's Hood ...more

Yes, It Breaks

I have heard the quote "If Mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy."  After this morning, I am thinking that is fairly accurate. My day started great.  Woke up at 5:45 to work-out, read my Bible and started my routine of packing lunches, backpacks, and making a bottle.  Woke everyone up and then I made my first mistake.  I told Caleb to use the potty right away.I do not know what I was thinking. To clarify, he still wears a pull-up at night.  The boy cannot wake up to use the bathroom no matter what we have done.  I am told this is still norm...more

Happy Wife +Happy Life. Hopefully:)

Based on everything going on, I am finding humor in everything.  Very generously for my Birthday KSP gave me a monthly membership at a local spa where I can go get a massage each month (there may have been implied subtext here, if I am more relaxed, I am more happy, less naggy:)  Happy wife = Happy Life, ok I get it babe).  One thing I am not so good at is self-care.  My feet are still in desperate need of that pedicure and my back feels like a 100 year old oak tree whose roots are so large that they have broken ground are are weaving themselves everywhere and anywhere t...more

For the first twenty-nine years of my life I spent the second Sunday in May each year celebrating my mother and the mother of whomever I was dating or married to by remembering at the last minute to hit the Hallmark store and pick up a card.  After securing a heartfelt sentiment written by a stranger I would then advance myself to a family celebration at "someones house" to devour brunch or dinner. I now realize that once you become a mother, the importance of that sacred holiday is not to be taken lightly.  Mother's Day is second only to a woman's bi...more
