I just found this cool blog called The Happiness Project,
authored by Gretchen Rubin whose book by the same title is coming out
in late 2009 (Harper Collins). In one of her posts, she discusses
different personality types -- on the one hand, the person who finds it
easiest to exercise control over their behavior through being moderate
and on the other hand, the person who prefers to abstain from a
behavior altogether. And she wonders, at the end of the post, whether
Monday, February 18--You’ve heard the phrase, “The days are long, but the years are short.” Too often I catch myself checking off the events on the calendar, waiting for the next thing--summer vacation, daughter entering 6th grade, son completing basketball season, or a ski trip. In the process of dreaming about the next thing, I rush through the moments in each day--the rituals like eating Eggos for breakfast with my kids, walking my dog on a sunny 72º day, or finding the lost red headband and a couple of socks under the couch.
