Do You Know The 100 Best Foods For Women?

Recently, I posted on The Great American Eat Right Challenge. So, when I came across this list by Alisa Miller, on the 100 Best Foods For Women, I immediately knew I wanted to share it here. With one hundred foods to choose from, there is something for everyone. Are you trying to eat healthy? Maybe you could pick a few of the foods on this list, and add them to your diet?

Take The Trans Out Of Our Fats!

Happy to report...I am feeling much better, and ready to talk about the ban on trans fats in California. This is a trend I would definitely like to see continue. Nothing good can come from the consumption of trans fats. So, if foods we love to eat, can be prepared, and taste just as good without it, then I say...take it out! Take the trans out of our fats!

Childhood Obesity: Should We Give Children Cholesterol Lowering Medications?

I've written several posts about the epidemic of childhood obesity. Childhood obesity is very serious, mainly because of all the secondary problems associated with it, including death.

It's a nightmare thought, isn't it? I took a baby CPR class when I was pregnant. I know how to help my daughter if she chokes, drinks poison, gets a burn, breaks an arm or encounters a bee. I have no idea what I'm supposed to do if something happens to me. And me is usually the person in charge. And that's scary. Let's educate ourselves.

"You've Gotta Have Heart" To Fight Heart Disease

I don't like to talk about illness. Yours, mine - You know, it's really not my cup of tea. Or anything I'd like to discuss over tea. Or anything I think anyone should discuss over tea, really. But you put on one hell of a show, get cool actors to perform readings and scenes, and you invite me... Well, coat my lessons with entertainment sugar, baby, and I'm there. And that's how I found myself talking to Brenda Strong about heart disease, instead of my mother.

Calcium and Heart Disease. What's a Woman to Do?

by Denise at 6:17pm Sun, 27 Jan 2008 under Health & Wellness, women's health, heart_disease, calcium supplements, bone loss; 1085 views
Did you see the study released last week about calcium supplements and increased risk of heart disease in post-menopausal women? Did it make you throw your hands up in the air in frustration? What, exactly, is a woman to do when she's told she needs extra calcium to prevent bone loss and in the next breath is told that her increased calcium could put her at greater risk of heart disease, already the number one killer of women?

New Studies On The Benefits of Breastfeeding, and Controversy Over A Woman's Right To Breastfeed In Public

by Catherine Morgan at 1:54am Tue, 6 Nov 2007 under Health & Wellness, Mommy & Family, asthma, heart_disease, breast feeding; 1337 views
I came across an interesting article today, about a new study on breastfeeding, and how it relates to IQ. Even though I've been personally out of the breastfeeding business for some time (my son is 16 and my daughter is 13), this article still intrigued me, so I decided to use it as the topic of todays post. Surprisingly, this wasn't the only study (or news) on breastfeeding that had been released recently.
