Hot Flashes Are Not Cool

It all started one cold January morning. I was sitting at my kitchen table. Furnace blasting. Swaddled in a big blanket. (I so dislike the cold. I do not retain heat. In fact unless I am under a blanket I pretty much shiver till spring arrives. I consider it my cardio in the winter!) I was nice and cozy, reading the paper when it hit! Suddenly I'm immediately...more

Judging by the Calendar

This morning I had an appointment to get my hair done. I like the way my friend does it, so I have been sticking with her. Jim had said why do I need a hair cut: it really looks nice. Never mind that I sweat profusely when the humidity goes over 85% and needed a hair cut. In addition, the ever popular hot flashes always seem to sway the vote for shorter hair. ...more

New study confirms link between menopausal hot flashes and memory problems

A new study is finally confirming what menopausal women have known for years: hot flashes wreak havoc on your memory.Published in "Menopause" (the journal of The North American Menopause Society), the results were informative (and perhaps even comforting in a way, to women who were previously told it was "all in their head").A objective battery of 8 tests of attention and recall were given to 68 women between ages 44 and 62 who had at least 35 hot flashes a week. A Rough Week

For some reason, this week seemed to be tougher than most.  I couldn't seem to do anything right, and it felt like the harder I tried...the worse it got. This was one of those weeks that was two steps forward, three steps back.  Even when it came to basic housekeeping, I couldn't seem to get it together.  I've felt scatterbrained and hyper-emotional all week. I HATE MENOPAUSE!!!...more

What Was I Saying?
