Amazon

I have often said that I am singlehandedly keeping Amazon.com afloat (though I've heard others say that too, so perhaps I'm not alone).   Their marketing techniques and suggestions of other items I might like to buy, based on my past purchases are sometimes to blame.  I have been known to be an impulse buyer, especially if a book looks particularly enticing on Amazon....more

"Day" of Resolutions

Well, another year is gone. Is it this the end of a decade or the beginning of one? I mean usually you start counting at one and finish at 10 but I guess you might start counting at zero and end at 9. And how do we refer to the year? It was '97 and '01, but it sounds weird just saying "ten". It almost sounds better to say "oh-ten". "Twenty-ten" is too many syllables but probably sounds the least stupid so I guess we'll all stick with that. While I’m a mom, I’m also a grandmom, wife, sister, and friend.  I try to identify myself as a multi-generational blogger, and my blogging friends and readers are many and as varied as grains of sand in time. Happy New Year or Whatever.

It's 2010. (in Australia. We still have a few more hours of CrapFest '09 here in the You Ess Of Ayyyyyyyy) Hip hip hooray. My New Year SUGGESTIONS: 1. I am going to be way less tolerant of bullshit. 2. Yeah, that's it. That's all I've got. UPDATE: I am adding two suggestions that I have stolen from Finn and Domestic Spaz: ...more

Mennonite Marital Relations

Relations. My husband and I have them. No, not THAT kind of relations (at least I'm not talking about 'em here!) Kinship relations. Mutual relatives. Kissin' cousins. But we're only a "little related." (Is that like being a "little pregnant?") We're only 8th cousins. Once removed. If you're counting. It's complicated enough that we only figured it out with the help of some thick history books and a brilliant geneologist in our congregation. But it's still embarassing. Not exactly the stuff of casual conversation. Unless you're Mennonite....more
