The Tree

Here's my latest. Enjoy and pass it on. The links to my books are , , , TreeThe Christmas season brings trees of every size, shape and design imaginable. Themed trees that look too perfect to be real abound. In earlier years I tried my hand at those kinds of trees. While they are pretty, I found there to be something lacking. The older my kids got, the more I let go of the idea of a perfect tree....more

Little Seed of a Gift

I've been writing on this blog for a little over three years now. For a while it was just something I was doing because I was told to. Every week my mom would tell me that I had a talent. That I was given the gift of writing well. And I never believed her. I refused, maybe not out loud, but on the inside I refused with every fiber of my being. I found it ridiculous. She continued to tell me, and I continued to not believe what she was saying....more

Ellie's Graduation speech: aka....SUPERLOVE!

She says this is because they are not only sisters, they are "best friends" which means they have double the love, hence...SUPERLOVE!This past Saturday Ellie graduated from Vinalhaven High School as Valedictorian and gave one of the best speeches (in this mom's humble opinion ;) ) I have ever heard. (So sorry for the visual!)  This soon turned into a dirty habit that I was able and willing to do anywhere....more

Finding Your Me Track

I decided I needed to weigh in on the Lean In.  And no, the Lean In is not the latest dance craze out of Korea from the rapper Psy.  I wish it was a dance craze.  It would be much more interesting and arguably, more relevant to women.   I am, of course, talking about the directive to working women by Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg in her book....more

Red Circle Days

There are moments in our lives that are imprinted into our very soul. Moments that don’t require a photo album or memory book for us to revisit them time and time again. Some may bring to life the very feelings of sheer happiness they brought the day we experienced them. Others bring the heart wrenching sorrow we spend years trying to erase. ...more
