Joan Jett Is Still The Ch-Ch-Ch-Ch-Cherry Bomb

Think of your favorite female rock musician and now consider this -- she may not have stood a chance of getting her music to your iPod without Joan Jett breaking down a few musical walls starting back in 1975. She is indisputably the Queen of Rock and Roll, and the lady still rocks out, as badass as ever, at age 52. ...more

10 Reasons to Rock a Girls' Night Out With The Runaways

Buzz for the band biopic The Runaways has been big for months, which is noteworthy. Not Twilight/New Moon big, but it's been building speed with lots of media and blog interest. Some of the energy certainly can be attributed to the Twilight momentum and its fans -- who are interested in the every move of Kristen Stewart, who plays Joan Jett in the film, but that has not the only factor by far. Greatest Female Guitarists of all time! via VenusZine Magazine

This article is a little old but I just stumbled upon it and figured it would be worth spreading the good news. Even today, many people don't think girls can play the guitar (this usually means they can't electric rock guitar, if it's acoustic sappy stuff, that's ok), and if they do, they are "all right for a girl." They can't do solos, or play as fast...blah....blah...blah. As if playing "fast" is the height of musically and creativity. Please. Whatever. ...more

Swatch out! I'm voting for the politics of dancing...

Here’s a political topic you’ll actually want to debate - the politics of dancing. Remember that great ’80s song by Re-Flex? Speaking of reflex, what about The Reflex by Duran Duran? Pure gold. Speaking of gold, check out 80s Gold. Dexy’s Midnight Runners. Huey Lewis and the News. A Flock of Seagulls. Can any music genre ever surpass the ’80s? I think not. ...more
