Day 3: How Many Books Have You Read This Year?

I Love reading. I can't be called a prolific reader - definitely not after I found some people on Twitter who have already finished 200 books this year! Having been a literature student for 5 years, I have had my fill of Shakespeare and Shelley, Dante and Dickens. I have also loved reading my share of awesome fiction like Gone with the wind and Shantaram. Or non-fiction books like Emotional Intelligence by Goleman or the Malcolm Gladwell books. Such books give a unique insight into the working of human mind and I find them quite insightful....more

Whether you're an iPad fan, Kindle Fire fanatic or Motorola maniac, wireless gadgets have become viewed as essential. And protecting those gadgets with something more than the shipping box is also important. So what are the most durable yet appealing cases? My recommendations include:...more

The great D 'e' bate: Books or e readers?

It was not until I started this blog that I became aware of the disdain that 'e' reading is held in across the bookish community.Blissfully unaware, as I was, of the debate raging between traditionalists and technophiles regarding the best way to access reading matter, I had no qualms about calling my blog after my cheeky and troubling addiction to my own Kindle. You see, I innocently assumed that reading was, well, reading, regardless of whether the words you read were printed in ink or pixels.  ...more

My Book Gets Lots of Kindle Downloads / Enfolded in Silence-A Story in Art of Healing from Sexual Trauma in Childhood

My book, Enfolded in Silence/A Story in Art of Sexual Trauma in Childhood, has gotten lots of downloads in its kindle form. I still like the paper back better for the size of the illustrations but I am glad people are reading the book in any form. I think it is a helpful book for those who have experienced childhood sexual abuse or any abuse, and those who live or work with survivors. It tells my story of abuse in painting poetry and prose and has a manual for things I could do in conjunction with therapy that helped me heal. I have gotten good responses from it so far....more

5 reasons for why the Kindle isn't that bad

We have fully entered the digital era; we use technology for everything. But in recent years, a new phenomenon has taking the book industry by storm: E-readers. I’m sure that like me, you were adamant that ‘E-readers’ were a sham and that the idea would blow over after a year. And yet, kindles and other electronic devices are still booming, over a year after their release, much longer than my early predictions. This article will explore the advantages to electronic devices like the Kindle, a more than year after their release into the commercial scene....more

I Published An eBook and I'm Not Sure How I Feel About It

Mostly it was curiosity.  I wanted to know if I could do it.   Turns out I can.  So I did.  Now I feel weird. It's really that easy? Amazon just opened it's big wide arms and tucked me up under it's smelly anybody-can-be-published armpit and plopped me on a shelf with a whole bunch of anybody-writers....more

Creativity with the Kindle Fire

Creativity with the Kindle Fire My daughter gave me a Kindle Fire for Christmas and I was initially skeptical of its value to me.  I'm an avid reader and have been known to finish a book in one day.  I love my books; I love having bookcases full of them and stacks of them by my bed....more
