Living in the moment (?)

We are often urged to live in the moment, or to stop and smell the roses.  But not all moments are made of roses. Some are made of shit. So should you stop and smell the shit? Not a catchy slogan, but: yes....more

Decisions… Decisions…

Each time when our hearts are beating, someone somewhere is probably making a decision. Someone has decided to cook pasta instead of steak. Someone has decided to pick up oranges instead of apples. Someone has decided to wrap under the cozy blanket instead of going outside to play golf. Decisions … Decisions. Still some of us have hard times making decisions, especially life changing decision. What should I be when I grow up? What would I like to do? I don’t feel like doing my job any more, what would I like to do? Should I major in business or engineering?...more

The Bad apple ...

Since my girls enjoy eating apples, I love buying them. I recall that when I was young, my father used to like peeling apples for my siblings and me. His hands danced around the apple in a twirling, swirling jig, as the peeled apple skin grew longer and longer, a vivid, slithering snake, each time his knife made the round. My heart thumped so hard against my chest that I thought it would break out. Each time, I held my breath, afraid that the length of apple skin would be chopped off accidentally....more

Frustration ...

My fourteen year old, Pepper, told me the other day that she was frustrated with her piano teacher. Her piano teacher was also frustrated with her. She felt like it was not fair that the teacher was upset with her, for she had tried her best in finding time to complete her piano written assignments, but didn't find enough time to practice....more

Those feathers ...

There was this story about a boy who sometimes got angry and said whatever in his mind without thinking. All he wanted to do was to vent his anger. One by one people surrounding him was disappearing and by the time he realized it … He was left with no one. One day, he went to seek a wise elder in the woods for an advice. After attentively listening to his story, the wise elder decided to give him a bag full of feathers and advised him to go up in the mountains and let go of those feathers. Afterward, he was asked to pick the feathers back and repacked into the bag....more

Bud of romance ...

A friend of mine made a special request for me to write a blog about "where love begins ..." I scratched my head, thinking where do I begin? :-) When does love begin?  And the search was on for the answer, past the thorn thickets, the malicious dragon with breath of flame, into the stone castle, and finally to the spark of true love. It is quite magical, just like in Sleeping Beauty. After all my research, here I am trying to write away my thoughts… Okay, let me tell you this: It has nothing to do with cupids!...more

Lend me your hands please …

Some time ago, I went to one of the wholesale warehouse at nearby town. As I drove my car away from the premise, I was stuck at the entrance/exit road waiting at the mercy of some cars to let me make a left turn.  There were cars nonstop from both direction and it was almost impossible for me to make a left turn. I would say about 30 cars going by from each direction and no one bothered to stop and let me have my turn. I literally had to ......more
