I have been stuck at around 200 "followers" for far too long now, something must be done. Better writing? Maybe. But I need immediate gratification. So I'm selling out. I'm doing a give-away. The lucky winner will receive a $25 Macy's gift card. Who couldn't use that? If you raised your hand, then we probably wouldn't be friends. Shopping sadly, is my most favorite hobby.
I'm making the process easy. Here is the deal:

Madonna and Macy's have teamed up to bring us the "Material Girl" line -- and it's making me feel old. It's not hard to see why: this is a line that squarely targets tweens and teens, not their mothers....more
I spend hours online but I’m still a newspaper junkie. Online shopping lets me research anything I’m thinking about buying. And then there are all the juicy comments which are often called "reviews." Ha! I start off examining customers’ comments and then I stop at a review where someone is telling a harrowing story about exactly what happened the night they brought their new mattress home. Sagging! Sides collapsing! Back pain! Co-sleepers sniping at each other in the morning! ...more
I've had it with you people.
First off, you PROMISED that when Robinson's May Co went out of business you were going to carry EVERYTHING they used to carry. Which would've been good as they had much higher quality merchandise then you. Yet you promptly broke that promise. ESPECIALLY in your plus size women's clothing where there is absolutely nothing that Robinson's used to carry.
It was such an honor to be invited to interview Tyler Florence, author and celebrity chef of Food Network's Food 911, How to Boil Water, and Tyler's Ultimate.
As a working parent, concerned with feeding my family well, it was only
natural for me to ask Tyler about how a busy man like himself is able
to spend time with his family in the kitchen.
Michael Kors had me not at 'Hello' but at "She looks like a paper brioche!" when commenting on a Project Runway contestant's awful ensemble. But even before he started pouring salt on the wounds of hopeful designers, I was intrigued by his clothing line. It was classic and refined but always with a bit of a twist. I currently own the perfect black a-line skirt designed by him but it has (bonus!) pockets. Perfect for those of us with a propensity to double fist during cocktail hour.
Forget Black Friday and the shopping at 4 a.m. nonsense! In
preparation for the holidays, here are some online deals that are too
good to pass up. Besides, you need your beauty sleep! I know MommyQ
I attended my very first BlogHer Conference this past weekend with my daughter, Catherine. In addition to meeting so many kind and wonderful bloggers, who helped me immensely, particularly Victoria, and gathering more information about blogging than I ever knew existed, I found lots of fun in places I didn't expect. I even had a private chat with Gina Ravera from The Closer, a favorite program of mine.
Tired of winter? Well, if you're in the New York City area make your way over to Macy's Herald Square and check out the 2008 Macy's Flower Show.
I took a trip over there last week and this year's show is lavish, lush and lovely.
The crowning achievement is a replica of the Macy's Herald Square store made entirely of organic plant materials like twigs, moss and bark. It was designed by landscape architect Paul Busse and it's a whimsical delight.
From tulips to orchids to hydrangeas to calla lilies, this year's show is a feast for the senses. I found myself looking forward with excitement to my own garden planting season in a few short weeks.
As a start, today I bought a small planter of pansies for my dining room. The pansies are a delicate apricot color and they have a wonderfully subtle scent.
But back to Macy's, I took lots of pictures at the flower show and you can check out the best of them here.
