Strawberry Sparkle Juice

Amidst my cookbook habit and penchant for Pinterest recipes, sometimes I need to take a step back and remember what this blog is all about. Food is always on my brain. I love trying out new recipes and sharing old family favorites here on Kid Cultivation. I get all worked up over taking a truly decent food photograph. But really, truly, when it all comes down to it, the reason this blog exists is because of three inquisitive, discerning, droll little beings, none more than 4 feet tall....more

Just one of those days

I’m going to precede this post by saying that I understand that I have it really good and that my life is generally super easy.  I’ve worked hard for a lot of the things that I have, but I also know how lucky I am to have a husband who takes on 50% (okay, sometimes a lot more) of the responsibilities around the house and baby, we both have full-time jobs, great daycare, blah blah blah.  I know all this.  Now may I complain for a little bit?...more

I can't catch up!

Run, run, run, run, run.... that's what [I feel] I'm always doing. Like I'm running downhill, and my legs get the better of me, and they just run faster and faster until I can't manage anymore, and I start tripping over my own feet until I finally fall flat on my face.S-P-L-A-T!Whether physically or mentally, either way, I'm always running to go somewhere or trying [unsuccessfully] to catch up on something that's late. My "to-do" list is never ending and always growing....more

Loose the “S” word during Summer, have fun..do as homeschoolers do

I have been coming across blogs here and there about the stress of having their children home for the summer months. And I can’t help but wonder why. Summer is such a wonderful time of the year. There is so much to do. Homeschooling changes your view on things.1. It makes you thankful that you get a lot of quality time with your kids2.  It teaches you patience… or I should say, your children teach you patience.3. It makes realize exactly how weird your kids really are, and it’s ok to laugh at them....more

TOO MUCH CRAP (AFRAID OF LETTING GO)

I started cleaning just after I recovered from jet lag. To this date, the task is not over yet. Because I don't know where to put them away, I'm in a total quandary. I think we need a bigger house. Or more storage furniture. Or maybe, the solution is to  light a fire and   burn all these crap. He has trouble deciding which things are to keep and that is the most frustrating part. And another problem is, I really cannot decide what to do with these garbage----donate, throw, or send them to the Philippines....more

Caution: Do Not Enter

It occurred to me that in the "about" area of my blog, I claimed that I write about stuff like why I won't use the guest bathroom in my house, weird things I've had to pull out of my dog's butt, and my unabashed love for  Conway Twitty.   I don't know if you've noticed, but I haven't actually written about any of that. And I know there's probably a good percentage of you sweeping the backside of your hand across your forehead, sighing in relief because, I mean, good God, who wants to read about that?  ...more

Now that we have that out of the way, I'm ready for the dog butt story. Go for it!more

False Buttons: What If There IS Something You Can Do About It

A few months back I was with a friend who was telling me about all the problems she was facing in life, which were overwhelming. The problems ranged from financial to medical and were affecting her whole family, including her parents and her children. She concluded her part of the conversation with this statement: "But, there's nothing I can really do about it." I looked at her and said, "What if that's a lie?" ...more

Unwanted and Unsolicited Product Review: The KwikSip

So, if you are a regular reader (I love you, regular readers) of Not Blessed Mama, you may know I have a slight affinity for As Seen On TV products. I just love weird stuff- and of course, I just love to write about weird stuff. I'm also thinking, if I keep writing about weird stuff, eventually some company is bound to send me one of their weird products. I can dream....more

Oh the Futility of it All

Cleaning...seriously, I don't understand the point sometimes.  I've never been a neat-freak, but I don't consider myself a slob either.  I get stuff done, sometimes it would sit for a little longer than necessary, but I got 'er done, no worse for the wait.Fast forward life, and now I live in a house dominated by the Y chromosome.  Four against one.  One poor lonely soul, waving a white toilet brush in submittance.  They are too good at their arsenal.  I've mounted attack against attack, and I just can't seem to break their defense.I've tried num...more
