pity party

Well, it's August, which means that soon I will be having a birthday party, which means that it's time for my pity party. Remember when you were a kid and it took FOREVER to reach your birthday? It took so long that we started measuring our birthday in smaller increments - "I'm 4 1/2...I'm 4 3/4...I'm 4 and 11 months"....Actually, it starts even earlier. Parents measure their child's age first in weeks, then in months - and they draw out the cute "baby stage" by continuing to refer to their toddler as "36 months".....can you imagine if we continued to chart our age that way? Hey!...more
