How Not To Woo Women Voters

Former Arkansas Gov. and 2008 Presidential contender Mike Huckabee (R) gave a speech at the Republican National Committee's winter meeting in downtown Washington. In it, he addressed the pernicious myth that women’s rights are under attack buy the GOP. He insisted nothing could be father from the truth, “Our party stands for the recognition of the equality of women and the capacity of women … Women I know are smart, educated, intelligent, capable of doing anything that anybody else can do.”...more

To Boycott Chik-fil-A or Not to Boycott?

The other day a friend of mine posted on Facebook that she was boycotting our local Chick-fil-A based on her disagreement with their corporate moral and ethical policies.  Since I was out of the loop, I naturally had to go Google Chick-fil-A and see what recent events prompted this strong sentiment from my friend.  Argh.  I had no idea that CEO Dan Cathy decided to publicly state his views – and thereby tie them to his company – condemning same-sex marr...more

Potential Vice President Candidates: John McCain

As election day is approaching and John McCain has all but sealed the Republican Nomination, it is time to take a look at who he potentially may choose to balance his ticket. McCain lacks with the conservative base and needs to select a candidate that appeals to conservative voters and independents alike. Several leading candidates for the nomination include: ...more

March 4 Young Voters Smackdown the Vote

Crossposted from Wiretap First, let me just say that I told you McCain would win. And Mike Huckabee conceded with a lovely speech about a pitcher that is always waiting and ready in the event the other pitcher can't make it. Media folks are speculating if this is Huck making a comment about being VP? Or is this a crack about McCain being so old he's nearing death? I think that this was actually a comment about Mike Huckabee's new career in baseball. ...more

Negative Obama Email Circulates Internet, Huckabee Supports Changing Constitution

I missed five days of work last week because I caught bronchial pneumonia, also known as "hell in my lungs". My son brought it home from daycare. I was so miserable, and I could barely talk, so I prayed for a miracle recovery, also known as "Aunt K's homemade chicken soup". Instead, she sent me an e-mail instructing me to drink lots of fluids and warned me not to be tempted to vote for Barack Obama should he win the nomination in this election. ...more

IA Youth Wrap-up and Hillary's Youth Troubles

Kristina reported right after the caucus, greeting us with the most exciting numbers - over 65,000 people under 30 caucused. It was with a tearful eye that I have read, in vindication, the hourly google news alerts that include the words "young voters" that are brought to my inbox. Sunday's San Francisco Chronical chimed in with enthusiasm ...more

I Heart Huckabee's Ad

With Christmas quickly approaching (and 800 gifts to wrap), I decided not to think about politics over the holidays. With just two weeks until the Iowa Caucuses, I was planning to ignore the campaign madness until January 3rd. But then I opened a Christmas card from a friend and laughed heartily when I saw the "Huckabee for President" flier fall out of the envelope. On top of that, my mother called excitedly to talk about "the brilliant ad" Mike Huckabee is running in Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina. It appears that Huckabee Fever is in the air. ...more
