It's 5 o'clock. Do you know where your mobile phone is?

Seems like I’ve been out of the dating game for too long, because I don’t know how to recognize a phone trawler when I see (or hear) one. You know. Those people who go through their partner’s mobile phone log looking for numbers they don’t recognize and then calling them up? Or, as in my case, returning a call missed from the phone of the significant other?...more

Home Phone, Cell Phone. How We Saved Money on Both

We attacked the home phone issue long before we became frugal. We just could not stand paying $50 plus for a home phone that we rarely used since most of our family members had a cell phone.  The home phone was needed for those who did not and to keep the minutes low on our cell phones. We didn’t want to get rid of the home phone because at that time we had at least one person in the family who didn’t have a cell.  Besides how would I find my lost cell without the home phone?  We definitely wanted to cut that bill down though. ...more

Refusing to Update: Why is it important to update software?

When it comes to computer programs, mobile apps, and web extensions and their time to update, a lot of people refuse to keep updating programs. I’ve seen it happen a lot. I for one update all my programs, apps, and all the other necessary stuff. Many people don’t like updating because it either disrupts what they’re already doing with the program, it takes too long, and the most popular, I just updated this program, why do I need to do it again?...more

Cell Phones

I have just one little question.  Do you turn your cell phone off when you go to bed or just off at all.  The Hubby and I turn our phones off at night.  Too many of The Hubby's customers have his cell phone number and let me tell you some of those customers have called us at night before for silly things.  It's not as if we are doctors or something, he is an electrician so the phone is OFF.  There is no real reason for the question it just kind of popped into my mind.  The rambling mind....more

(VIDEO) Anti-Social Multitasking: Are You a Techno Menace to Society?

I had a friend asked me about the Kord Campbell article in the New York Times . Kord almost lost a $1.3 million dollar deal because he was so busy multitasking he missed the initial offer to purchase his company. "No," I told him, "I actually make the time to be off of the computer." It isn’t my total connection to the world. I learned my life requires a balance. It is not healthy to splinter my energies into dead end tasks. More importantly, no device and no amount of busy work will stand between me and $1.3 million dollars. ...more
