Books I've Been Reading: Don't Let Me Go

This book (which was written by the same woman who wrote Pay it Forward) was in a totally different genre than what I typically read from (horror, dystopian, sci-fi) but I felt like I needed to read a book that was actually a "nice" read to change it up a bit and I'm sorta glad I did.Click to read full post....more

Around Here

Whoooo boy it's been cold as hell these last few days! I seriously don't know how I'm going to make it through the winter and it's only in the 40s. I left my thick skin in California. We had our first snow of the season on Wednesday. We were lucky and weren't affected by the nor'easter. All the snow that fell melted by the next day.Click to read full post....more

Lost Shoe

I was walking down the street to the Greek Orthodox church to vote this past Tuesday. It's only about 4 long blocks. As a I passed an apartment building, I noticed a gray Nike sneaker in the grass by the sidewalk. A few yards further, in front of an abandoned house with a realtor's sign in the yard, I saw a brown leather short boot. Confessions Of A True Blond

Once my hair grew back after chemo was over, I decided to let it go au natural for once in my life. My hair dying days goes back many moons, to when I was 13 and used Sun-In. Prior to that, my cousin Barbara and I used pure squeezed lemon juice before we headed into the sun, and that worked so well that my mother was/is convinced that my hair lightens all by itself in the summer sunshine. I know there is some truth to that because I watch my kids go from blond to bleached blond every summer too....more

Last Words From This Undecided In WI: I'm Tired

I'm tired of hearing Tammy Baldwin screaming "YOU'RE DAMN RIGHT", I'm tired of hearing Mitt's 47% secret video, I'm tired of hearing all the commercials, and all of the negativity. I am somewhat enlightened with the POTUS's Monday commercials urging people to get out and vote without slandering Mr. Romney. (But wait! The 47% commercial just aired again!) I'm also relieved to hear Tammy speaking in a normal voice and not sounding like a fishwife. ...more
