Since our little guy’s bedroom is so small, we wanted to give it a little something extra.  We wanted a little architectural interest coupled with a place to display pictures and other accessories.  To achieve this, we installed beadboard paneling with picture ledge trim.  Read more >

You'll Never Feel Like an Adult

Place Setting

I remember being young and doing the math to determine how old I would be in the year 2000. The turn of the millennia seemed impossibly far away, and the age I would be at that time seemed impossibly old. And yet here we are, twelve years after that magic number, and I haven’t yet crumbled to dust.  Read more >

I'm Not A Sex Goddess and That's Okay

Tim Inconnu (Flickr)

My biggest problem is getting over the sexual rejection. There's a lot of hurt still lurking under the surface. I'm terrified to initiate sex because what if I get rejected? I have it so built up in my head that it would be in the end of the world, but I need to learn to separate my past from what's happening now, in the present. Maybe someday I will be a sex kitten. But for now, I'm just a girl who had her first orgasm from oral sex at the age of 28.  Read more >

The Complex Meaning of the Pink Ribbon

Gloria Bell (Flickr)

The ribbon has come to represent an organization's fight for awareness and support, in a culture where even nominal awareness and support of a socially-condoned organization signifies a person's political and social consciousness. Losing The Greatest Love: Goodbye Whitney

As Americans we grown up with "American Idols". We learn to look up to and honor celebrities and become too invested in their lives. People look to idols too much, when we should be looking to ourselves, and become invested in the excellency and glory of our own lives. We hold celebrities up to such a standard that they become apart of our lives and apart of our dreams. We relate to them, so they become as relatives. So rightfully when they die, apart of us dies.  Read more >

Change Makes My Heart Happy

I love Valentine's Day. We don't do the traditional romantic dates and gifts in our house. It is a family celebration that consists of a pink and red dinner and gifts, cards, and treats that magically appear at the door.  By magically I mean someone sneaks out through the garage, rings the doorbell, and then runs back into the house.  It is one of my absolute favorite holidays, so in honor of the day of love I thought I would share with you what I love about running.  Read more >

Trusting One Another

trusting each other

As they laid our beautiful baby girl on my chest, I ran my fingers over her fuzzy eyebrows. She struggled to open her eyes, pulling her head like a magnet toward the overhead hospital light; it was a good sign. She was serious, quiet, tiny, sensitive, and a deep thinker. All of this was evident within the first minute of meeting her face to face. Her dark hair was already an inch long, making her appear as if she was wearing a wig.  Read more >
