Here's What's Wrong with Sport$

There is something dramatically wrong with sports these days and there's only one way to fix it: get rid of the money. It used to be that athletes made average salaries, that taking your family to a live sporting event did not require a bank loan and that all sports were available on television for free as long as they aired on one of the three national networks.  Now?  Those things are fantasies of a past life....more

Let's Learn from the Lin-sanity

It’s sweeping the nation – Lin-sanity!  People from all corners of the United States – and even from international nations – are shouting Jeremy Lin’s name from the rooftops and following his every move.  Who is he, you wonder?  He’s the first Chinese-American man to play in the National Basketball Association.  Oh, but, he’s so much more than that.  He’s the personification of determination, hard work, brains and stick-to-it-tiveness.  He’s the sports figure all kids should want to emulate because, as a parent, wouldn’t you want your son to idolize a ...more

Magic Johnson: Stop Criticizing Your Team!

It seems like every time I pick up a copy of a Los Angeles newspaper, I'm reading an article in which Magic Johnson is criticizing the Lakers.  As most of you probably already know, Earvin "Magic" Johnson was one of the premier guards in Lakers history, winning five World Championships during the 1980s.  As the first 6’9” point guard in NBA history, he led extraordinary teams, including the NBA's all-time best scorer, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, forwards James Worthy, AC Green and Kurt Rambis and backcourt partners Norm Nixon and Byron Scott.  In other words, Magic was the fuel that...more

Stern denies Chris Paul trade to Lakers

I'm a LA native and not a Lakers fan (Clippers fan). But I had to get excited about the news that the Lakers were trying to get Chris Paul from the Hornets. While I'm not a Laker fan, it's always exciting when a home team shows that they are actively trying to get better. Especially considering the embaressing show last year in the playoffs.  The trade was to send Odom to the Hornets and Chris Paul would come to the Lakers. Only Stern decided to reject the trade and stop it from happening....more

PREDICTION: Occupy Protests Will Stop Once the NBA Starts Playing

I woke up this morning at 5:00 am, turned on the local news and saw the City of Los Angeles bracing for the Occupy Los Angeles protestors who announced they were going to take full advantage of “National Day of Action” to march through downtown and over to the Bank of America where they planned to cause a ruckus.  LAPD had its hands full all day, grappling with protestors and fending off irate commuters.  Many of the people who work downtown and who were just trying to make a living were forced to take a “sick” day because they couldn’t get past the Occupy protestors.  ...more

NBA Players & Owners: Get Your Act Together!

Okay, so there was no training camp.  That doesn’t matter.  Although it’s nice to get acquainted with the rookies, who needs a bunch of articles about players who will never see the court?  Well, then the exhibition season was lost.  No problem.  Who cares about meaningless games featuring those rookies who will never see the court once the real season begins?  But, then NBA commissioner David Stern canceled the first two weeks of games…and then he canceled the second two weeks of games.  And he’s on the verge of canceling the entire season....more

Upcoming NFL season, can we please get some fantasy football

Ive recieved numerous text message's phone calls and emails from some contacts I have in the world of sports over the past week. Most have stated the lock out was going to either be over that nite or with in the week. Now these are people that I and allot of other people trust, probably a few of you do as well. Now Monday's blow up pushed a deal back but a deal is coming and will be done by July. So full training camp and 16 game season, that also means fantasy football is coming and work days are about to be filled with football googles and fantasy transactions....more
