If you're like me, you were probably disturbed to hear today of the arrest of a Bronx woman, charged with impersonating a member of the Pozner family, who lost their 6-year-old son Noah in the Sandy Hook elementary school shooting.
Noah Pozner will forever be six-years-old because of the unspeakable madness of Friday, December 14, 2012. A news reporter prompted me to write this blog. He looked into the camera and asked if the viewers remember the killers’ name in the Columbine killings of 13 years ago. Two names quickly came to my mind, which I refuse to put in this blog. The reporter then asked if I, the viewer, remembered just ONE of the victims’ names at Columbine. Yesterday December 17, 2012 Everyone was urged to wear Green and White in memorial of the tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut. Sandy Hook Elementary school colors are green and white. I saw the post a day before on my facebook page and had every intention to find whatever clothes I could put together that were green and white, but with so many other priorities on my mind I got dressed... off to pay my car note in a silver and blue striped tunic dress and some jeans. I know this to be true, and yet when I see statistics showing that gun violence is down since the 70s and 80s, that supposedly gun assaults and the US obsession with guns and other destructive weapons ...more
Friday, a young man shot his way into an elementary school in Newtown Connecticut and murdered 20 children and six adults. I've heard and read comments from people who are shocked and saddened as I am. But the most senseless comment I've heard so far is "I don't feel sorry for the children, they are with Jesus. I feel sorry for the parents". ...more
Dear Members of the Media,
By now you’ve probably heard the small wave of outrage that is condemning you for interviewing the children of Sandy Hook Elementary School. You already know that furious parents across the country feel that it’s inappropriate to shove a microphone in the face of a traumatized 8-year-old.
But have you ever wondered why?
It’s because WE WILL REMEMBER.
