I have to say I appreciate Obama's stance that a candidate's family - and especially his or her children - should be off-limits. Granted, he pretty much HAD to say that, and just how serious he is about that will be seen in how he responds to his supporters when they take cheap shots (because you KNOW they will.) In this case, however, I do think there is one aspect to the story of Bristol's pregnancy that *is* relevant to her mother's candidacy.
Bristol's pregnancy isn't the appalling part of this situation; she isn't the first young girl to have made a poor choice and been "caught" and she certainly won't be the last. What I so find appalling is her mother's behavior.
The fact that the baby Trig is or is not Bristol’s, the fact that Bristol is pregnant again, or is supposedly 5 months pregnant now, is not the issue… I’ll tell you why I have a problem with it all…
…Sarah Palin, and her fifteen year old daughter who’s got a proverbial bun in the oven.
Let me just make it clear
- I am not interested in politics, I couldn’t really give a toss who
wins the election, nor could I care less about one scandal or another.
But I do think that so what if Bristol (poor girl, what an awful name..) got pregnant before she got married?
So freaking what?
In this chess game that is the presidential campaign, McCain in addition to forfeiting his own inexperiance talking point, can also now take judgement off the table. And they are protesting on the lawn outside the RNC.
So they are telling us McCain was aware before he selected her that the new VP nominee's 17yr old daughter, a high school student, is 5 mos. pregnant.. C'mon, this gets better and better. I love the drama of this reality broadcast that is the Republican National Convention. Nobody could write this script better. Is the line McCain is drawing in the preverbial sand simply an "UNdo List" of Republican gaffs.
Between Katrina II, Veep Candidate Fey...err... Palin and now this on Labor Day...the Goddess of Irony is on a roll.
I still haven't picked up my jaw from last week.
A political cartoon from today's Israeli newspaper, Yediot. As McCain marches with a bikini-clad "Miss Arkansa", Obama says to Biden "How do you look in a bikini?" Is this blatant sexism that turns a governor into a sex object reason enough to put a woman in (or near) the Oval Office?
The choice McCain made in choosing Palin will be his downfall, or take him sailing into the White House in a blaze of glory.
We know there are those so angry about the whole Clinton thing they are willing to vote for someone diametrically opposed to all of Clinton’s positions. These people will vote on their emotions, much to the detriment of their daughters and sons, but remember it was always about them, never about the candidate.
I am never surprised when men act condescending toward women. I was going to say I AM a little flummoxed when women act that way, but then I thought about it, and I changed my mind. I am not at all amazed at the hypocrisy of liberal women.
