Kim Edwards is the author of The Memory Keeper’s Daughter and a collection of short stories, The Secrets of a Fire King, which was an alternate for the 1998 PEN/Hemingway Award, as well as her BlogHer Book Club pick The Lake of Dreams. She has won numerous awards, including a Whiting Award, a British Book Award and the Nelson Algren Award. Her stories and essays have appeared in The Best American Short Stories, Ploughshares, Zoetrope, Anteaus, Story, and The Paris Review and have received a National Magazine Award for excellence in Fiction and a Pushcart Prize. A graduate of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, she currently teaches writing at the University of Kentucky. She lives in Lexington, Kentucky, with her husband and daughters.

After attending NYU's Tisch School of the Arts and interning at Late Night with David Letterman, she wrote for such publications as O, The Oprah Magazine, Rolling Stone, Harper's Bazaar, Glamour, and The New York Times Magazine, and for the VH1 television show Pop-Up Video, where she earned an Emmy nomination. She lives with her husband, daughter, and several dogs in Manhattan. She's the author of You Had Me at Woof, Please Excuse My Daughter and her BlogHer Book Club pick, Love at First Bark.
