The Perfect Summer Salad

I visited our local Old Towne Orange Farmers and Artisans Market in Orange, California. It was a beautiful sunny day and I was ready to be inspired for tonight’s dinner. My eye caught the bounty of stone fruit from the Mt. Moriah Organic Farms from Lodi. Initially I thought to make a peach crumble, however a friendly farmer suggested that it would be better to incorporate into a refreshing peach salad....more
The salad looks absolutely awesome.  Keep up the great work! :)more

Blueberry Raspberry Bars

We can all pretend that these are okay to eat for breakfast.  They count as fruit.  If we all agree that it's ok then the calories don't count.  Power of the masses.  The antioxidants from the blueberries cancel out the fat in the butter.  It's science.  Who are we to question science?  See?  Look at those berries.  They're a vision of health.  Health ccoovvered in sugar.  That's mostly how I like my health anyway.       ...more

Pretty Is The Name

I think you can tell a lot about me by looking at some of my prized belongings. If my wardrobe is a personal statement of how I present myself to the world, then my tableware is a reflection of me at my most comfortable. While you may not see me all decked out in floral and lace, I do have a weakness for pretty things. There is a girly side of me that is not apparent when you see me as an athlete. It’s definitely there though, often when I’m lounging at home....more

Raspberry Lime Pranayama Cupcakes on Frosting for the Cause

Frosting for the Cause is a year-long project to raise money and awareness for cancers that affect women. And the recipes, as diverse and amazing as they are, always come accompanied by a photo tutorial demonstrating the decoration process. You laugh, you cry, you learn and you drool....more

Roasted Yam Arugula Salad with Raspberry Vinaigrette, by a Menopausal Chef

Becoming menopausal has not only altered my personality, but it has also triggered food cravings; and sweets seem to arouse my heart’s desire to no-end. Little did I know that my vinaigrettes—my heart’s creations on a whim, fashioned to sate my sweet-tooth with tartness—would be so well received from family and friends. I now make these often for them, served vegetarian or with shrimp. It is for this reason that I have decided to share my treasured recipes, here on Blog.Her. And this dish, in particular, is simply dazzling on the taste-buds. A great combination of flavors!...more

Mothers Day ~ Yogurt Cheesecake with Orange Shortbread Crust and Chambord Honey Drizzle

That might be the longest recipe title ever, but at least you can see IMMEDIATELY that this cheesecake is special. Even special enough to grace your Mothers Day table! Cheesecake is one of those foods that people tend to get a little fussy over. I can sense the frantic thoughts spinning in your heads… That’s not a true New York Cheesecake! Is it that Philadelphia-style cheesecake? Or the sour cream variety? Or Italian ricotta and marscapone cheesecake? And what is up with that crust? I see no graham crackers…...more

Chocolate Raspberry Pots de Creme and a Giveaway!

One thing I love about living in Asheville, North Carolina is that it attracts food lovers. People visit here for all sorts of food festivals throughout the year. Others come to stay; opening restaurants, farming, attending culinary school, and producing artisan cheeses. With so many taking part in this “Foodtopian Society” as we call it, there is never a lack for delicious conversation or cooking buddies....more
