Romance Novel Vocabulary used in the Real World

Hello world!  I am a 48 year old, happily divorced, former NYer,   living in sunny Florida with my 3 dogs and amazingly Southern boyfriend.  I currently work at the most boring job in the world.  I'm talking mind-numbingly dull and utterly stress free.  This job does provide me with many valuable hours of reading time.  I literally sit at my desk with my Kindle under some very important documents with my back to the door of my veal calf cubicle.  It is so much better than High School when I had to hide my paperbacks under a bulky Trappe...more

Separating Me from Them

I carried them in my body for 40 weeks, each.  I grew them, cell-by-cell, limb-by-limb, inch-by-inch.  My body created them from two half-cells into tiny but whole people....more

A few months ago I posted a picture on Instagram with #selfcaresaturday in the description. That day I had taken a quick drive to Santa Monica for a facial. Then I walked right around the corner and had lunch by myself. Such a relaxing day. A day that had come after way too long....more

Do You Admit That You Have a Blog?

I'm a social person. I can easily speak to total strangers, and in class I ALWAYS have a question. However, one topic seldom comes up in real life: my blog. I'll share things on Facebook, where I have friends both from school and from the blogosphere, but other than that it's almost a don't ask, don't tell type of thing. I don't like to mix my online and offline worlds. And I become uncomfortable when other people mix them for me. ...more

Online Life vs. Offline Life

Q. How much of the day are you plugged in? Do you consciously set aside offline time, or does it happen whenever it happens?A. I check my e-mail and Facebook every morning and before I go to bed.  When the kids are in school, I limit my online connections to about an hour a day.  This blog took about twenty  minutes. The rest of the day I prefer to get chores and shopping done. ...more

Life As I Know It

It's been quite a long while since being given time to get on here. I still haven't a clue as to how you put pictures on here. I'd love to share with you all how my little honey bunches of cuteness is growing! He will be 5 months old on the 25th of this month. WHERE HAS THE TIME GONE???It definately seems like just last week I was dying to go back to work so I wouldn't be bored all day with him sleeping as much as he did. ...more

Kittens and Puppies

My husband and I are ridiculous animal lovers. We are aware that our pets outnumber us. If they should ever decide to mutiny, we will be screwed. And, to be honest, it's really my fault. When I met Jacob, he had a dog. Just one dog. Like a normal person.I, on the other hand, had five cats. And one dog. Now, I will agree, five cats is kind of a lot. But really, it wasn't totally my fault. I had three when I was first living in my house way out in rural Stafford Springs....more

I Yell at my Kid...guess that makes YOU a better mom

If I’ve learned nothing else in life, it’s that you can’t let other people and what they say bother you. It’s tough, and I still struggle with it on occasion, but for the most part I’m one of those “we all have opinions” kind of people. I may not agree with you, you may not agree with me…and that’s okay. Because we all have the right to be different and think differently.But....more

I've been home from being overseas for five days and I still feel like I got tossed off a carousel and dumped into an alternate universe.  Five weeks away, even with highs and lows during that five weeks, ill prepares one for re-entry into the reality of everyday life.  The sun is shining, I've been pootling around in the garden trying (in vain) to rescue the tomato plants from blight, and attacking weeds that threaten to envelop the house.  I am dipping back into work projects but wonder if working for a living is really necessary.  Today I flatly refused our self-impos...more
