Psssst....Racism is Relevant!

I'm broken, I'm hurt, I'm tired....this is how my heart feels for the white and black race conflicts of today. Sure there are other races with issues and those are important as well. But I want to approach these two races head on....more

How to Tell If You're Getting Old

Last week I called a friend of mine and complained I couldn’t get warm. My personal internal thermostat was set on "freeze." Shivers were running through my body, even though I was wrapped in an afghan.“What’s your home thermostat set on?” he asked.“66 degrees.”“What does the thermostat read?’“66 degrees.”“Well, Deb … then your house is 66 degrees. Turn the heat up. Most people our age have it bumped up to 70. My wife has our house locked in at 71.”...more

Expectation vs Reality

I think I probably have to stop talking to people. While out in the real world today, in the year of 2014 a human person actually said the following sentence: “That is just like a woman. They are never satisfied."I had two responses: the one that happened in my head and the one that happened out loud....more

Where I Am vs Where I Thought I Would Be

As a kid reaching age 27 seemed like light-years away. I had all these ideas on what being 27 would be like. I can remember playing with my imaginary friends (#onlychildproblems) pretending to be a grown up who was slowing approaching 30. At the time, I thought this age would be magical. And honestly I must say its really not THAT bad, but its far from what I imagined. You see 10 year old me thought:...more

It's Perfect Isn't It? The Lives (Lies) We See On Facebook

****Originally posted last year 2013 on my blog A Day In The Life Of Mrs. Glass , but I thought I would recycle it and share it again. It's a good reminder - especially for me who at times struggles as I see the seemingly perfect lives on Facebook. ****It's perfect isn't it.... the lives we see on Facebook... usually happy faces of people doing fun stuff ALL of the time. This time of the year you see pictures of Santa, Gingerbread houses, and an ungodly amount of cookies being baked....more

Reality of Life

In life, we often feel uncomfortable with our situation. This does not completely means that you are taking the wrong path, this is a crucial part of growing up. Some people ought not to take heavy challenges because of fear, but a person needs to step out of the comfort zone. This uncomfortableness is sometimes the disguised opportunity. The beautiful struggle in life can only be felt when you start taking risks. You will realize the value of your sacrifices from the past. The opportunities you never expected will gradually appear in your life....more

Talking about TV

Hi. I'm Lauren. And I know nothing about television.Let me explain: Sometimes when I talk to other parents, they will tell me about the shows they or their children watch. And I have NO IDEA what they are talking about. I watch TV, but evidently, I don't watch what they are watching. I try to remember the names of the shows to look them up later, but I rarely do. Was it a reality show? Something you can only see online? I guess I'll never know....more
