Creamy mushroom soup

My need for deeply warming comfort-food continues unabated, to the point where I am now dreaming about mushroom soup. I know that I must dream in tastes, because this one was so delicious that I positively *had* to make it the very next day. ...more

Recipe: Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge

What’s your favorite holiday?Ours is Thanksgiving. The entire Chrismukah-gift-buying-gift-giving-retail-complex has completely lost it’s luster. It’s become one big responsibility laden roadblock of expectation.  You know you have to worry about what to get everyone. You have to worry about how much it will cost. The worst is that you have to remember what you gave each person last year then try to trump a perfect bulls-eye or compensate for the gift gaffe.  So much pressure, so much money, so much time (a non-renewable resource)....more

Favorite Things: Recipes for Thanksgiving

I like recipes. I am trying to get back into the habit of cooking, and I like reading recipes to prepare. Classic Pudding Recipes for Memory-Making Moms

What is about pudding that sweeps me straight back to childhood? Mention tapioca pudding and instantly I'm standing at my mom's side in the kitchen, talking with my hands to show her -- in detail, exactly -- what happened on the playground at school when Candy grabbed the jump rope from Cheryl. She's at the stove (and maybe wearing an apron? surely not, that's so TV-commercial stereotypical, right?) stirring something in the green saucepan from the matched set purchased one piece at a time from the grocery store in town. What's in that pot? Pudding! It was one of Mom's maaaaany answers to the question, What to make when supper's a little skimpy? ...more
