I try to stay away from anything processed. We try to eat organic and as healthy as we can but darn, it's hard!!!!! It can be really over whelming trying to change all of your eating habits. I have a lot of people ask me how I have time to make so much from scratch. It's like anything else you are trying to change, it's not going to happen overnight. Start small, that's my advice....more
As I create recipes for my blog, I keep tabs on all the salad dressings I've made with a little document that includes the ones I use most. These dressings are the ones I come back to time and time again, because they are flexible and tasty. Once you have these dressing recipes under your belt, you can transform endless salads!
All the following recipes will dress a salad of 4 to 6 servings.
When I moved into my first apartment, I was heady with the power of being able to live on my own terms. For the most part, I've stopped using store-bought salad dressings when I'm home. Instead, I usually just drizzle a little olive oil with garlic salt and basil over my salad, but it's getting a little boring and I wanted some flavor in my salad. Since my son loves Japanese sesame dressing, I keep making different versions and this particular dressing is actually my husband’s favorite. I wrote down the recipe so that I can make it again, but usually I keep altering the recipe to see if I can improve it. He likes this particular one because he likes the taste of vinegar in it (so yes, it may be a little sour for some of you). Some sesame dressing is too creamy (more mayonnaise) and he doesn’t like it too much. This dressing on the other hand has just enough mayonnaise to be called “sesame dressing”....more
