Every day my inbox is inundated with emails from both brands and PR companies. This is pretty normal for most bloggers that have been doing this for a while. Many of those emails are invites to attend an "exclusive," invite-only event.
The brand or PR company hopes that I will share the event on my social media channels, providing the brand with free advertising. Sometimes the event or opportunity is worth it.
Many times, it's not.

In this age of selfies and the eagerness to show others via social media how fabulous our lives are, it's easy to brag and fake an appearance of contentment even when we're not. We can easily seem confident by how we speak, dress, and interact with others. I read a friend’s blog today regarding body image and her struggles with keeping weight off while at the same time reminding herself that she was being motivated by an unattainable image pushed on all women by mainstream media. I think her dilemma is shared by almost all women, including me. From the time our little eyes can focus on the page of a magazine or catch the glimpse of a passing billboard, the world tells us that our bodies need improvement because whatever we currently have is not cutting it....more
Everybody's a marathon runner these days. It seems that as we all get further away from our college days, many people double down on their fitness efforts. CrossFit is a huge, seemingly masochistic craze; I can't go a day without a daily deal email offering me personal training; and black leggings and bright colored sweatshirts are clearly the new powersuit....more
