Would you buy your Mom “age-defying” cream for Mother’s Day?

There are some gifts that, no matter how well-intentioned, just aren't a good idea to give to a woman.* A new vacuum cleaner. A blender. A gift certificate for WeightWatchers. With Mother's Day around the corner, I started thinking about whether expensive anti-aging creams fall into that category. ...more

Need SPF and anti-aging wizardry? Try Olay's Pro-X line

It's finally (finally!) the time of year when shopping for sunscreen starts to sound like a good idea. And not just stuff to wear to the beach--stuff to wear every day. (Yes, I said every day, missy. Or don't come whining to me when you're fifty and look like a Shar-Pei.) The matter gets a little more complicated for those of us of the aging persuasion. Isopropyl Alcohol Clears Up Your Cleavage (Yes, Really!)

I have acne prone skin; with the help of a great dermatologist, I cleared up my face, but my chest was another story. No matter what I tried, my chest just kept breaking out, which was a bummer because my face was looking great. And then I read a column in Lucky Magazine by beauty editor Jean Godfrey-June that changed my world. Godfrey-June recommended treating acne-prone cleavage with isopropyl alcohol -- you know, that stuff you keep in the bathroom to sterilize the needle when you have to dig out a splinter. You know, in the interest of science. And beauty. And cleaning up my own cleavage. ...more
