Tug of War: So says my head

Blog Directory Okay while cleaning out my closets this week and opening drawers to things I hadn't seen let alone smelled in a few months (it'd been awhile) there were times when I just wanted to scrap things and call it a day and other times when I didn't let a soggy situation get the better of me. So would you believe I had a thousand activities I stowed in chunks by my bedroom in-table, stacks by my broken bookshelf, and piles up next to my old VHS collection near my fading Panasonic TV....more

Astrology: A Nurturing, Royal Weekend – Moon in Cancer & Leo 6/3/11

Early on Friday June 3rd, the Moon floats into Cancer  – the Water sign it rules. There will be sensitivity and emotion, but also the possibility of good home cooking. (Not a bad mix.) Downplay any moodiness and let Cancer’s kind, mothering instincts invite those you are fond of to share the healthy and tasty things in the fridge. All this sharingness will last until late Saturday night....more

Pale is not a dirty word: In other words, tans are not a prom necessity!

Astrology: April 2011 * Aries – So Many Planets, So Little…

Wow, there will be days in April that Aries (Fire Sign, ruled by the Warrior planet Mars, 1st sign of the Zodiac) will be playing host to 5 planets plus the Sun. Potent, powerful, persuasive, passionate, potentially combustible energy can result. (I ran out of “P” words to convey how “in your face” this could be.) ...more

The Skinny on Vitamin D, the Sun, and Weight Loss

With daylight savings time bringing more sunshine into our day (thank goodness!) it reminds me of a question I was recently asked about whether vitamin D can help with weight loss.   Lots of hoo-ha about Vitamin D lately.   Vitamins seem to be taking their turns in the spotlight, eh?   First there was Vitamin C, kicking everything from scurvy to the common cold, even if the latter is more based on wishful thinking than scientific evidence… but hey, look at the market for Vitamin C-laced cough drops, cold-kicking concoctions, and even candy!...more

From Divorce to Somewhere Else (A Metaphorical Journey)

The vessel carries me forward – into the dark night. A lunar face observes my wanderings, not a descent really, more an investigation or exploration of how I am going to get to where I must go. There is no chance of going back. Once illuminated you can’t pretend you don’t see. The feminine face watches from her airy throne. ...more

Living the Simple Life

We have all dreamed of running off overseas and living in the sun at some point in our live's right? Usually when its cold and wet outside and the hands on the clock move as though they are waiding through thick treacle that is keeping them rooted at four o'clock. I have, many times. We even achieved it once and transported ourselves from the insescant rain and wet that is the Lake District to the western coast of France and a much hotter and altogether less wet oasis of French village life....more

The Wood

In my backyard is a very small copse of woods. Many different types of trees grow there; oaks, maples, elders, willow, cherry, spruce, basswood and more. On each end, north and south are small orchards. A pathway encircles it that is wide enough in some parts for a small tractor to use and then that trickles down to a path just wide enough for a slender person and their large dog friend. ...more
