My biggest problem is getting over the sexual rejection. There's a lot of hurt still lurking under the surface. I'm terrified to initiate sex because what if I get rejected? I have it so built up in my head that it would be in the end of the world, but I need to learn to separate my past from what's happening now, in the present. Maybe someday I will be a sex kitten. The ribbon has come to represent an organization's fight for awareness and support, in a culture where even nominal awareness and support of a socially-condoned organization signifies a person's political and social consciousness. These seemingly benign messages of support eliminate the possibility for argument and thus demand uncontested support. And yet the message behind the pink ribbon is anything but benign.  Read more

As Americans we grown up with "American Idols". We learn to look up to and honor celebrities and become too invested in their lives. People look to idols too much, when we should be looking to ourselves, and become invested in the excellency and glory of our own lives. We hold celebrities up to such a standard that they become apart of our lives and apart of our dreams. We relate to them, so they become as relatives. I love Valentine's Day. We don't do the traditional romantic dates and gifts in our house. It is a family celebration that consists of a pink and red dinner and gifts, cards, and treats that magically appear at the door.  By magically I mean someone sneaks out through the garage, rings the doorbell, and then runs back into the house.  It is one of my absolute favorite holidays, so in honor of the day of love I thought I would share with you what I love about running.  Read more >

As they laid our beautiful baby girl on my chest, I ran my fingers over her fuzzy eyebrows. She struggled to open her eyes, pulling her head like a magnet toward the overhead hospital light; it was a good sign. She was serious, quiet, tiny, sensitive, and a deep thinker.
