Comedian Amy Poehler is one busy lady these days. She just gave birth to a baby boy, is developing a sitcom for NBC to debut this spring, is still raking in kudos for her impressions of Hillary Clinton on her former show, "Saturday Night Live," and now she's working on becoming an internet star. Amy and two of her friends, Meredith Walker and Amy Miles, have teamed up to produce eight webisodes called "Smart Girls at the Party."

Hang on folks 'cause we're about to have a "YouTube President" in the White House. Yes, it's true he may now have to give up his BlackBerry, but that doesn't mean his administration won't use the media and the internet in ways that have only been imagined in politics before.Last night President-elect Barack Obama did his first televised interview since the election with Steve Kroft of "60 Minutes." And though interviews by new presidents on "60 Minutes" are not new, the way Mr. Obama has used the media to his advantage rivals that of The Great Communicator himself, the late President Ronald Reagan.

Joss Whedon, writer and creator of awesomeness such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Firefly, and most recently Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog has a new show in the pipeline, Dollhouse. The bad news? It doesn't start until February, and many are already predicting Dollhouse's demise. The good news, though, is that it is filming now, and people are already writing about it on the internet!

A post, "The Interview Obama Regrets, But We Love," has hundreds of hits from CNN and Google, telling of the nation's obsession with the Obamas, the nation's next First Family. Some surfers are especially fascinated with President-elect Barack Obama and Michelle Obama's daughters, Malia, 10, and Sasha, 7.

Do television shows like "Sex and the City" and "Gossip Girl" encourage teen girls to get pregnant? Well that's the finding of a Rand Health study published last week in the November issue of Pediatrics. According to a New York Daily news article by Jane H. Furse about the study: Rand Corp. behavioral scientist Anita Chandra
found teens who watched the sexiest shows were twice as likely to
become pregnant over the next three years as those who watched few such programs.

Halleluljah! The 2008 election is almost over. It's been exciting, inspiring, historic and incredibly contentious. Soon we won't be hearing anymore about John "Mr. Grumpy Puss" McCain and Barack "Mr. Tax and Spend" Obama or Sarah "We're Mavericks" Palin or Joe "I"m From Scranton" Biden. But before we move on to the next act in this political drama, let's take a look back from a media standpoint. In a campaign year when many Americans got their news from the internet: YouTube, Facebook, campaign websites and hundreds of blogs on the internet that helped shape public opinion and motivate voters, it would be a mistake to forget the power the mainstream media (MSM) still holds over shaping a candidate's image. Here are some Election 2008 MSM highs and lows.

What do you think of when I say "Little House on the Prairie by Laura Ingalls Wilder?" Do you think of summer afternoons reading about little Laura, her family and their adventures on the prairie? Do you think of the TV show starring Michael Landon, Melissa Gilbert and Melissa Sue Anderson? Do you think Twitter? Yeah, you heard me, Twitter. Hold onto your bonnets, people 'cause you remember sweet little Laura? Well she's a 21st century lady now and that means she's on Twitter.

Dime store psychology is always fun especially if you get to shrink the head of a fictional character. Today I'm going to analyze one of the great head cases on TV, Dr. Gregory House, and more specifically, how the women in his life have shaped him into the man we all know and sort of hate...but, not really. The FOX medical drama "House," stars the talented Brit, Hugh Laurie.

You've seen the SNL election parodies and sketches: Tina Fey as Sarah Palin thanking elementary school students for helping her prepare for her debate with Joe Biden; Jason Sudeikis as Joe Biden saying he'd take a bullet for his good friend John McCain...but McCain is "mentally unstable;" Even the real Joe Biden cracked up at that one. Then there's the SNL town hall meeting debate where Chris Parnell as Tom Brokaw keeps hilariously cutting off the candidates to save time.

The Dow is down, the S&P is tanking and we're all tightening our budgets to cope, right? Well yeah, except when it comes to entertainment. A recent poll by Movietickets.com via Pop Watch Blog asked people "how the economy had changed their movie going habits," 31 percent said it had done so "noticeably," 33 percent said, "drastically," and 36 percent said, "No change."

Ah fall! When the weather gets colder, the leaves turn pretty colors and the DVR overheats from taping so many of the Fall TV shows. A couple of weeks ago I told you what returning shows I was waiting for like a kid on Christmas morning, and now that I've seen a few, I'm here to report back on What's Cool and What's Crappy.
About a year ago, I wrote a case study on my marketing blog about the Sci Fi Channel's first digital press tour. After my interview with the pr rep, I half jokingly said she should be sure to invite me to the next one. So she did.
