Breaking from my Tangling from A to Z project once again (I can't believe another week has passed already - April is absolutely flying by!) in order to stop and focus on gratitude. ...more

2007 Poem of Thanksgiving

I'm a journalist in both senses of the word - I write for magazines and newspapers but I also write everyday in a journal. I have them going back decades. Each morning, coffee cup in hand, I write in my journal and then read RBC Ministeries 'Our Daily Bread' devotional.  Weekends or when there is time or reason, I write more.  Last year there were three 2013 volumes....more

Time to take a short breather from my Tangling from A to Z project (which I've been greatly enjoying, and I hope you have as well!) to stop and focus on gratitude. In my part of the world the sky is blue, the sun is shining, and the temperature is definitely in a Spring-like zone... ...more

YOU are on my gratitude list every day, but today you're featured in the top spot... because if it wasn't for YOU, I would never have bothered with a blog and would have instead kept my writing to myself. Yet, because of YOU, I have had the joy of discovering how creatively challenging, empowering, fulfilling, and just plain fun writing for an audience can be. ...more

Today's Gratitude List - Linkup No. 22

The first item on today's gratitude list is a rather silly one, I'll admit - but I'm going to share it anyway. I'm grateful that I was able to leave the house yesterday in my Converse - instead of boots - for the first time in, quite literally, MONTHS! (I'm not sure I can clearly convey just how sick and tired I am of my boots, and of the necessity of wearing them every single time I want to go out... ...more

Gratitude in Images

The weather has a mood-disorder this year; it is severely manic depressive, teasing us with rain on Saturday and bone chilling temperatures the next day. Even though it looked like a blizzard outside on Sunday, even though it was -28 C degrees outside last night and the pipes to our shower, toilet and washer froze for the 14th time this year.... I am still grateful. As a result, I am happy, slightly crazy but still happy.I am linking up with Laurel Regan, here on BlogHer with my gratitude list. ...more

The snow! It appeared again in the form of a big dump this past Wednesday, making us all wonder if Mother Nature had truly lost the plot and forgotten that Spring is supposed to be arriving this coming week. But I'm happy to say that she came through for us in the end and provided me with the first item on my gratitude list for today. ...more

Well, it snowed last night. AGAIN. But even in the midst of my frustration with The Winter That Might Never End, there is cause for gratitude: waking up to find that our neighbour was in the process of shoveling our walk. AGAIN! We need to put some serious thought into a creative way of repaying him for his kindness. Any ideas? Hope you'll join me in this week's Gratitude Linkup! ...more

Gratitude: The Secret Key to Happiness

Everyone from cognitive therapists to priests to self help gurus keep trying to get through our heads is that when we are thankful and grateful, we are happier and more content. Period. Once I start thinking of what I have to be grateful for, I could go on forever. Perhaps that is why I am basically joyful....more
