MM – Picture day, trees

It's an interesting bit of synchronicity that I planned the topic for today's blog weeks ago, and we heard from our landlords just a few days ago that the the crew from the tree removal company would be arriving this morning. Instead of my usual writing soundtrack of kidlets and Pandora, I'm being serenaded by the dulcet tones of chainsaws and machinery. It should be interesting how the landscape around here changes after more than a half dozen trees go to that big chipper in the sky....more

Tales of the rain (acacia) trees

The river at the side where the house of “Nang” (a Filipino term for female elder) Estela Pangca and the power cable of the Cagayan Electric Co. (Cepalco) are situated now in my hometown of Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental in northern Mindanao, Philippines used to be occupied by acacia trees (rain trees) many years ago....more
