Happiness happens in ordinary moments

What does happiness mean to you? My husband always says that happiness is a choice- to be satisfied with what you have, to be kind, to love and let others love you. I think in this instance, (which doesn't happen very often!) he is right!...more

Early Potty Teaching Twins

Corbin and Lynley are undergoing so many changes these days that I can barely keep up. They've both hit major growth spurts, and along with that growth are some major developments, like: clearer speech, picky eating, using eating utensils, tantrums, wanting to be in my lap 24/7 and showing interest in bathroom business. We have many teaching areas that we need to tackle, but it can't all be done at once! One that we'd like to begin now is potty teaching....more

Mom-emies

something super surprising that i’ve discovered since we announced that we were expecting was all the negative mommies out there. not to say that the vast majority of women that i’ve encountered haven’t been amazing or sweet or provided helpful tips – but there’s also a group hidden in negativity that you don’t find until you, yourself are expecting. so, what does that look like?...more

Braces: Behind the curtain

http://jessicarachelorlo.com/When the twins were six we started talking about whether or not they'd need braces. It was an interesting topic for me, because I've never had them. I was excited. By the time they were nine we knew the direction we were headed in, so I called a few Orthodontists in Texas to get an idea of the process and cost. Here's what I didn't expect to find out - it's a secret. It's like Fight Club. Seriously....more
I just had my first get *out* of braces! In case you're curious, what you found is very similar ...more

Laundry "DAY" and a cuppa coffee

I call Monday “Laundry Day.” For whatever reason, it makes me feel like that is a manageable task that can be accomplished in one day. It starts out on Sunday night. I have everyone bring their laundry to the laundry room. Good gravy seven people can generate a lot of laundry. My husband and I settled on an “energy efficient” washer and dryer. I picked the pair with the biggest load capacity thinking that would save some time. Now we’re cookin’, right? Energy efficient and time efficient!...more

Hey 19

I know, I know - you've read this all before.Too bad.It is time for the Annual Birthday Post! My tiny little 1lb babies are 19 today.I know, right? Some of you have been reading the Birthday Post since they were about 10 or 11.Time is not just flying, it is traveling at the speed of sound. I remember a tiny Becca setting her pacifier down in something that had spilled...she picked it up, took a suck, and said, "What the hell is all over this?!" It made me laugh so much that I couldn't even correct her....more

By Foot… Or Let's Burn That Damn Stroller

Who would have thought that the little dude who learned to walk only about six months ago would now be wanting to get around the streets by foot only. How adorable, you would think. Well, think again, but consider the following first. The only mode this little individual operates in, when he is not bound by four walls of house or a backyard fence, is "run very fast while erratically changing directions every two seconds" mode. And fast he runs! ...more

A Tale of Two Potties

"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times". That's how I feel.I don’t know what it is really and the weather today isn’t helping. Most days, I find myself just feeling blah. Do you know how that feels? To have no desire to really do anything. I don’t want to watch TV, don’t want to read and I definitely don’t want to potty train these boys....more
Hi, I am sorry I just saw this post and it's towards the end of January. How is potty training ...more

Night times with Twins

I can barely remember the first few months of being a new mama to twins. I know I was really tired and that my bundles of joy were waking up once, twice and more a night. Not always together either. So how did I survive these first few months of horrible sleep deprivation? Well, we had a game plan where each night me and my husband planned for the worse-case scenario. It didn't help us get more sleep (not right then anyway!) but it helped keep our sanity relatively in check so I thought I share my tips.Sleeping...more
