Joss Whedon on Crafts and Craftiness

It's the small touches that transmit unique style to something.  Perhaps it's a hand knit hat or lacy shawl that defines a wardrobe.  Maybe it's mid-century flea-market finds that make a home unique.  Sometimes we consciously recognize these items; other times they are simple subconscious cues.  As it is in real life, so it also is make believe. That's one of the things I learned while I enjoyed CrochetMe's Kim Werker interviewing Joss Whedon.  Whedon is the creator of Buffy, Firefly , Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog and the current Fox program Dollhouse.  Turns out he also knows a thing or two about crafts. ...more

My Review of Dead Until Dark (HBO's True Blood Series)

Yes, I L-O-V-E-D the Twilight series... Edward, Bella, The Cullens... ALL of IT. And YES, I was quite upset to finish book #4. But at last, I have found an equally as FAB replacement. ...more

Vampires and Ghosties and Graveyards OH MY!

So for Christmas I lucked out and received three new books, which for me is like, the best present. (ok clothes, jewels and money are always appreciated). The first two books are the first two in the "Sookie Stackhouse" series, (by Charlaine Harris) upon which the HBO series "True Blood" are based. Now I asked for the first book, because I thought the premise for the show was interesting (and I don't get HBO so I figured, I'd read the books and decide if renting the DVDs would be worth it or not). The second book was a bonus. And here is my review: Ew. ...more

Twilight: Eclipsed by the Ick

I just finished Stephenie Meyer's rambling, overwrought, vampire saga turned girlie phenomenon.  I have to say, I'm speechless.  No, not breathless, in the Bella Swan sense, but completely taken aback by the unexamined, creepy, 19th Century take on paternalistic romantic love this series represents.  First, to give credit where credit is due, the writing may not be the greatest but the story was gripping enough to have me on the hook for all four books in one week-long sitting.  That's my last bit of charity, however. The Story: Spoiler Central,  All Four Books ...more

Twilight and a Limo Ride: A Preteen's Dream Night

So, last night was the Great Limo and Movie Night. To back up a bit, I should explain that crafty daughter is a 12-year-old reading whiz. She literally reads books in one sitting, often reading several books at once. She has been known to read her 5 year old brother's library books...she will read books just about anything, except possibly math. Over the summer she participated in a reading program for teens at our local library. For every hour she read, she got a "book buck." She also received book bucks for doing research at the library. ...more

Beyond Astrology: Psychic Horoscopes. Psychic Signs:.Embrace the Real World.Truth be Told.

It's high time to read the Signs - no, not just the Zodiac, but the Psychic flashing lights, posted, like so many blogs, along the rocky path we now travel . As Bob Dylan wrote, "You don't need a weather vane to know which way the wind blows" - and the wind is howling now, blasting right into our faces. Please be convinced these are dire straits.  Most of us feel it, and some of us see what's ahead. Some people don't want to see it or acknowledge it. ...more

Well I absolutely cannot wait until tomorrow.  And anyone who clicked on the title of this blog knows why.  I'm dying to see the Twilight movies in theatres TOMORROW!!!!!!  I may even have to make it a matinee.  After hearing so much about these Stephenie Meyer books, 2 months ago, I went to my local library and was told that there were 28 people ahead of me to check out the first book, Twilight.  Now I was really curious so I went to Walmart to buy the book (only $9). ...more

Trick & treat! Vampire erotica around the blogosphere

It’s Halloween eve, a cool night in this dark end of the North Country of Abernicht. The wind whips in through the castle’s casement window and you draw your cloak more closely around your shoulders, noting the little puffs of elf-fires lighting the road far below you. You are watching Sir Sterling and his retinue making their way toward the castle after a long afternoon of hunting in the wood when suddenly, a tingle of the hairs on the back of your neck make you realize you are not alone. ...more
