Weekending | Downtown Disney

It feels so good to be back in the land of blogs!  Though, truth be told, I'm sure I'm going to need another break as we gear up for this move.  One day last week, we drove down to Orlando to meet with a real estate agent and look at some townhouses.  The new plan that I eluded to a couple weeks ago includes the purchase of a townhouse for us and the bears.  Quite the difference from where we're at now.  However, in the long run it will be worth it, and we've found a couple of prospects....more

2013 Epcot International Food & Wine Festival: Hops and Barley Market

Hops and Barley Market at the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival isn't necessarily a must stop for me. Having spent 10 years living in Maine, I've had some darn good lobster, and whenever I've ordered it during F&W, I've mostly been bummed by what I received. While the Lobster Roll has seen some improvement over previous years, I don't really have any desire to drop the change on the dish. One of Matt's festival favorites, the Pumpkin Mousse, has been replaced by Craisin Bread Pudding. This was definitely a dish that grabbed my attention a bit more, mainly because I'm not into the whole pumpkin-flavored everything during this time of year....more

2013 Epcot International Food & Wine Festival: Mexico

Mexico has been a must-visit kiosk for me at the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival. I fell in love with their Shrimp Taco and the Lime Strawberry Margarita a couple years ago, and while the margarita has been replaced this year with a Mango-Habanero option, I was looking forward to trying the change....more

2013 Epcot International Food & Wine Festival: Argentina

While the Argentina menu at the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival remains the same food-wise, the building itself got a bit of a facelift! Still, we stopped by the kiosk to sample one of my favorites, the Beef Empanada....more

2013 Epcot International Food & Wine Festival: Australia

Australia has long been a top pick for both Matt and myself during the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival. Matt always orders the lamb dish, and I often order the shrimp. This year, however it was the Pavlova that caught my attention, replacing the former Lamington dessert. The Pavlova is a Crispy Meringue Shell with fresh Driscoll's Berries and Vanilla Custard. We had just grabbed a fork to tackle this dish, but we really could have used a knife to get through the meringue - it was very firm and crumbled as we tried to dig in. I enjoyed that it wasn't overly sweet, and the berries were fantastic....more
