This being America, you can tell the change in the season by what sports are on television. In March, that first time I'm flipping through channels and see baseball, it's like the first time the sun has ever shone. I cry, most years. That's not an exaggeration. Because baseball means spring, and dear lord are midwestern winters long.So I know it was just around the twins' birthday, when baseball was lagging and football only just getting started again, that my husband narrowly avoided having a very uncomfortable conversation with his children....more
I try to plan my Sunday’s around watching football, eating, and drinking. And everyone here hates me for it.I feel like this is something I’ve been doing my entire life. But when I look back at my childhood, I don’t really remember doing this often. The only time I really remember watching football is when we watched the Super Bowl....more
I'm a girl who likes, no, loves football. I have a husband who does not. He likes the Super Bowl, but by the time pre-season is over, he is generally done watching football. But he loves the food I cook to celebrate football, so he doesn't complain much. Even when I cook healthy football food.My favorite team is the Redskins, which means I am constantly disapointed. But I keep up hope the way I wish the Redskins would keep up the good fight.Do you or your family watch football? If so, what is your favorite team?...more
Yesterday I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to do something I have wanted to do for years. I got to see my favorite football team, The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, play against the Washington Redskins at Fed Ex Field in Landover, Maryland.I have probably been to 20 Bucs games but this was the first time I got to see an away game. I've lived in the Washington D.C. Metro area for almost four years and this is the very first time since I have lived here that Tampa Bay played the Redskins up here. I wore my Buccaneers jersey and everything....more
If you really wanted to know who was going to win the Presidential Election before Tuesday you could have just stayed up really late the night before watching the Washington Redskins and the Pittsburgh Steelers play on Monday Night Football.
Sound ridiculous? Of course it does. But guess what?
Last night, after a relatively lazy weekend, I was messing around
online, not really paying attention to the TV. I got done reading
blogs (which is a joke, because do we ever really get done reading
blogs?) and put the computer up.
I noticed that the TV was on
some random movie channel with a crappy shoot-'em-up movie, so I hit
the guide button to see what was on and almost started crying.
I am happier than I can possibly express.
The hot hot ladies of the Washington Redskins cheer squad are in India shaking their shapely hips in those short shorts, matching go-go boots and bikini tops. Needless to say male fans were left salivating for more, our culture guardians gasping at the "vulgarity", purists demanding that the "Indian" sport be spared of such cheap thrills, and some fence sitters (me included) wondering and analyzing to no end what this all means and if all this fuss is warranted.
