Weighing In On The New Year Dieting Frenzy: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.

Weighing In On The Dieting and Weight-Loss Frenzy: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. Making a New Years resolution to diet or lose weight is simple. It's the actual dieting and losing weight part that gets a little tricky, if not darn near impossible.

How Do You Choose a Diet?

A funny thing happened to me on the way to making a living, I went from being someone who had never dieted in her life and hated diets to someone who had never dieted in her life, hated diets and found herself a bit of an expert in diets and dieting. Funny how being good at your job can lead you into fields you never thought you'd explore.

I Lost 50 Pounds in Five Minutes

Really, I did. You see, this morning I got on the scale. At first, the number looked not bad, good even, given the way my body feels. Then the figure started to climb, a pound or two at a time. Much to my horror, it kept rising -- and rising and rising! I stepped off, unable to face the final tally. After a moment, I understood that if I didn't get back on the scale, who was I fooling? Surely not myself nor my way-too-tight jeans. After a deep breath, I got back on, prepared for the worst. And sure enough, the same thing happened, the number kept going up and up and UP, far past the point of reason. With a flash, I realized, Wait, the battery is failing, that's what's happening. Sure enough, it was. New batteries solved the problem and instantly, I was 50 pounds lighter.

Wii: Great Fun, Fabulous Exercise - Beware of Injuries

If you read my blog then you already know I bought a Wii and we love it, even if there have been some injuries and it has caused some unexpected problems. We first played the Wii in February when we went to London with the little kids. The Science Museum had a great video game exhibit and visitors were able to buy a ticket to play the Wii. We did and we were horrible but it was fun. So I bought one. I didn't really believe all of the blogs and articles that said playing Wii sports was a good workout - until I tried it for more than 15 minutes. OMG it IS a workout - and we haven't even tried any of the dancing games yet.

Dr. Oz on Oprah: Money doesn't buy happiness, but it does buy healthy foods.

When I hear Dr. Oz is going to be on Oprah, I usually try to watch. So today my daughter and I tuned in. One of the things Dr. Oz was talking about, was how eating eleven pounds of vegetables a day can be helpful in losing weight and in lowering blood pressure. At that time a big platter full of fruits, vegetables, and nuts was brought out and put in front of Dr. Oz and Oprah. It looked yummy to me.

Hypnosis for Better Health?

Yesterday was Hypnosis Day. Did you celebrate? I didn't. Just thinking about being hypnotized makes me nervous. If I contemplate it for long, cold chills and shakes will occur. Hypnosis is totally not my thing.
