Spring has Sprung: Time to Patch Those Potholes!

Enormous craters along your commute are a sure sign that winter weather has taken its toll on heavily traveled roadways. If you deal with a winter freeze/thaw weather cycle, you know that potholes can bring frustration behind the wheel, and create giant mechanics' bills when a hole in the asphalt swallows your tire....more

Deep Freeze

Today was my first day back at work after 17 days off... and I am tired! Mentally, for sure, but also rather physically tired, as I got up with the alarm for the first time in quite awhile... after, of course, NOT going to bed at a reasonable hour last night. (Anyone else fall into a whole different pattern of sleep when they're off work for awhile? I certainly do! For me, vacation mode = stay up late + sleep in.) But, even though the holidays were wonderful, it actually feels good to be getting back into a regular routine once again. ...more

Neighbours Are A Blessing

Once again neighbours have come to the rescue. Sure we could have dug ourselves out, but everyday is getting colder, and the snow is getting heavier. So any help, is always appreciated. We just had to shovel out the car, walkways and stairs. Of course later on, I had to dig out the packed, icy snow courtesy of the city snow plows. What a bunch of jerks, but that's a rant for another day. A lot of closures occurred on Monday, hopefully things will be back to normal today. Well except for the temperatures which are supposed to be in the extremes for the next couple of days....more

Wednesday, Half Way There

This week has been interesting. What has not been helping are the frigid temperatures that Mother Nature has been spewing out of her butt. Seriously MN, who did what to you? The toe-numbing, pain-in-the-brow, induced by your strong winds is not appreciated. Okay, I'm finished whinging, for now. :)Not much to tell because I've been so busy. Between the workshops, submissions, the book and life, I'm stretched to my limit. No complaining here, though....more

Friday Is Good

Yes it is. Friday is usually a busy day because I want to wrap-up the big stuff & do a little less for the weekend. Everyone needs some decompression time.Projects and crafty things have been on the back burner for the last 2 months or so. Hopefully I can accomplish something other then writing. Back burner stuff includes:...more

Wednesday/Hump Day

This really is a hump day. I'm struggling to get over the hill, that is called The Day. But I have no choice but to pull up my big girl panties and charge through. Or just suck it up! Easier said then done but I'm trying. Maybe it's January. Maybe it's the left over blah from the holidays. Who knows but I need to work on making it disappear....more

Monday, Life & Downton Abbey

The Christmas tree and decorations are finally down. The house looks so boring now. Drab. One year I should just leave the decorations up and see how I feel....more

Friday Wrap-Up

This week has been pretty calm and quiet, just the way I like it.I will say it again. I am not happy about Mother Nature, not keeping up with her end of the deal. The snow was supposed to come for Christmas day and then melt away by the end of Boxing Day. The only thing that happened was more snow. Seriously MN, we have to talk....more

Tips for Winter Driving From One Girl Trucking

So Monday was my first day back driving in bad weather. I had to pull an empty wagon on about 150 miles of glare ice. I got my first lesson of the season in defensive driving, patience, and how not to get upset when your drive tires let loose from the road your on and all goes to hell for a minute or two -- 6 or 7 different times. ...more
