Freshta Basik-Raskh is a proud recipient of the 2010 Blogher Scholarship. Freshta has been a contributing blogger to the Afghan Women’s Writing Project since of May of 2009. Freshta currently works in Kabul as a Media Relations Officer in the Ministry Spokesperson office at Afghanistan’s Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock. This past spring Freshta graduated with a degree in Journalism from the University of Kabul. During the Taliban Regime, with the assistance of her parents Freshta secretly attended classes at the homes of women teachers. After the fall of the Taliban, Freshta graduated from one of Afghanistan’s most well known schools, Maryam High School. In an effort to broaden her knowledge of the world and to ultimately serve the people of Afghanistan and the world at large through Journalism, this September Freshta will be attending Middlebury College in Vermont where she has received a four year scholarship.
