Fun Crafts for Easter and Beyond
by debra roby

I know.  It's the last minute for doing any Easter crafts, but many of these ideas are just so wonderful that you should keep them in your crafty to-do file for other great spring occasions. These crafts may have Easter as a theme, but I prefer to think them all as perfect SPRING crafts.

Give your baskets a totally original look when you dye eggs with silk ties. Dollar Store Crafts took the idea from Martha Stewart and really rocked it! Only problem I would have? Eating the eggs inside.  These would a great decoration/addition to a wedding shower or Mother's day celebration don't you think?

Staying with the "egg" theme, retro-mama made fabulous fabric eggs.

Driving home, this strange urge to make Easter eggs came over me. Strange in that I don't usually get this kind of inspiration until either, a) after the holiday has passed, or b) it's so close to the holiday that there isn't enough time to complete the project. In any case, not only did I finish the eggs in time, but I've come up with a little tutorial (my first!) far enough in advance for anyone else who wants to make fabric Easter eggs, too. These are just a bit bigger than real eggs and a terrific way to use up those fabric scraps!

And these fabric eggs would add a nice touch to a baby shower or given as a set for a hostess/house warming gift.

Dabbled highlighted 12 ways to color easter eggs.  Twelve!  None of them like the eggs I colored as a child.

Final egg-citing entry:  CRAFT highlighted eggs made by carver Franc Grom that are egg-static works of art.

Lucky Ladybird demonstrated weaving colorful baskets out of plastic bags.  While great Easter baskets, I'm thinking these are ideal Farmer's Market baskets.  Or worth making for picking the goods from my own garden.  Either way, I've got to make one before the late-spring/summer market season begins.

Are the kids home from school?  Kiddio has a Kid-Craft Jamboree will with crafty fun you can do this week.

Another craft great for Easter and perfect for baby showers later is RoxyCraft's Boo Boo Easter Bunny.

These guys shouldn't take much more than an hour to make and use a bulky weight yarn and a hook 2 sized smaller than what's recommended on the label to make a large stuffie that would make a great gift!

Finally, if you're in the mood for family crafty fun, LottieLulu shared some very simple spring crafts her kids made including Easter Bonnets made from paper plates and bowls.  I'm thinking any May Day celebration should have these hats.
