The other night - in the middle of the night - my 4 year old daughter called out for me. Well it was more like yelled for me.
MOMMY!
So my four year old daughter is a sweetheart with a lot of energy and God has blessed her with a loud voice. We've tried to teach her how to whisper, but to no avail. She just has a loud voice...
Me, in bed (awake now): Okay, maybe she'll go back to sleep.
(louder now) MOMMY!!
Maybe she'll still go back to sleep.
(Even louder) MOMMY!!!!!
Okay, jen, get up, this may be important.
So, I pull myself out of bed, walk over to her room, open the door and ever so gently say:
"You don't have to yell sweetheart."
MOMMY!!!!
"Yes dear."
"The germs."
"What about the germs, honey?"
"They're hurting my feelings."
(I'm in bed with her now and I start laughing.)
"STOP LAUGHING AT ME!!"
"OK. You're right. I'm sorry. Wanna tell me about the germs?"
"No."
Then she turned over and went to sleep. Of course.
I laid down next to her (yes, it was one of those nights), closed my eyes, held her tight, and tried really hard not to laugh out loud.
Must have been some dream.
