It's Not a Mayan Apocalypse Unless Neil deGrasse Tyson Says So

So, it's been bruited about for years that the world will end on 12-21-2012 according to the Mayan calendar, and even though all the media and all the science is saying "Nuh-uh," and even though experts on Mayan culture are going, "Dude, it isn't so, that calendar goes up to the octillions," and even though some Mayan people are saying that this whole thing has them feeling kind of burned, and even though we ourselves have been burned waiting for the End Times before -- still, my social media has been glutted with people wondering if they needed to set their alarms early this morning for the End of the World Dance Party, or if they could have, like, a leisurely brunch first and maybe a pedicure.
And so here's one of the world's most brilliant people and my personal person of the year, super-astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, to tell it true: "It's a hoax, perpetrated on the scientifically illiterate on the scientifically underinformed."
Now You Have Been Told -- and you're just going to have to suck it up and deliver your deliverables, and put a hustle on your procrastinated Christmas shopping, and cleaning your room probably wouldn't hurt.
Though I think Neil would find it perfectly OK to continue on with the dance party. I know I would.
Happy 12-21-2012 to all!
