Get your bra to live longer!

Have a bra you love? Wish you could have it around forever…well I can’t promise forever but I do have a few handy hints and tips to help prolong the life of your favorite bra!
Tip 1. Hand wash your lingerie. Hands up how many of you actually hand wash your delicates? Shamefully, I was the same. Either I didn’t have the time, or I forgot, or made some ridiculous excuse to myself that it doesn’t make a difference. As I work in the bra industry, we hear a lot of stories from women about their bras losing elasticity or losing shape very quickly, and one way to avoid this REALLY is by hand washing your bras! With a little warm water and detergent you can preserve the elasticity of the fabric. It is well known that fabrics such as spandex are often used in bras because it can stretch in order conform to a woman’s unique shape. However, spandex breaks down in heat. This means that it is best to keep delicate bras away from hot water and out of the dryer.
Tip 2. If you can’t hand wash… (because let’s face it, we’re not all superwoman!)
As important as it is to treat your bras delicately, we all know it can be quite time consuming. Many busy gals may be tempted to throw their bras and panties in with the rest of their laundry in order to save time ( I know I’m guilty of this!) However, this can be very harmful to dainty pieces. Hooks can get caught on other items in the wash. Frequently, bras end up twisted and wrinkled during high speed spin cycles. Try placing your items in special lingerie care bags or cases that will prevent them from getting destroyed in the wash.
Tip 3. Have different bra days
When it comes to caring for your bras, you’ll also want to remember not to wear your favorite bra everyday. As difficult as this may be, it is important to remember that this will extend the life of your bra exponentially. When you take your bra off at the end of the day, it is best to give it a day to revert back to its original shape. If you do not give your bra some time to “relax” you run the risk of stretching it out and it can lose its shape much quicker. If you are lucky enough to have a bra that you love so much that you want to wear it everyday, try purchasing another identical one so that you can alternate between them.
These hints and tips will ultimately extend the life of your favorite bras. In time, you’ll notice that taking good care of your bras and panties helps them keep their shape so that they look as fabulous as the day you purchased them! It can also save you loads of money and keep more expensive items in pristine condition.
Hope this helps all you ladies who have just bought sexy new bras for Valentines day!
